Headed for church, so don’t have time for all details, but Congressmembers fly on special very low fare airline tickets, which would have put her as a very low priority on the upgrade list. (Upgrade order/priority is now decided by the fare paid by the upgrading passenger, not the time of the request.) Also, upgrade would have been assigned by the gate agent / “ticket lifter”, not the Black stewardess as Lee claims.

Why has this become such a big story? This is more attention that SJL has gotten for anything in years.

It also has to do with how often you fly. I often checked in and went to #1 on the wait list even with a deep discounted tickets as I was a top flyer.

However, if the woman had a confirmed seat and was bumped to cattle in favor of SJL, that is total BS.

I once had a 1st class seat and could wait 4 hours for that fight of take coach now, I took coach.

It actually wasn’t Shelia’s idea (this time) to make it into a huge deal, it was that ‘teacher’ who got bumped.

Shelia was just being her usual queen self, and United, not wanting BLM to shut down their operation at IAH, was just being their usual selves...and giving The Queen what she always wants, and always gets.

When he ran for President years ago, Ross Perot said in one of his infomercials that ALL members of the House and Senate should be obligated by law to fly coach. It would save taxpayers money, and it would force our legislators to get much closer to the people they're supposed to serve.

It was a terrific suggestion then and it's an even more terrific suggestion today.

It means that I took coach instead of 1st class which I had paid in order to get to my destination 4 hours sooner. No compensation was given as I voluntarily took the earlier flight instead of my scheduled flight.

The “of” in my sentance should have been and “or”
