I saw a 3 ft long snake in a west Tennessee bottom after the 100 yr flood.
It had a flat tail like you see on sea snakes swimming along using that tail to good advantage.
It was in a small clear water creek.
Anybody seen one like that?
Was that before or after you checked on the still?....................

If it had the flat tail as you stated, then yes, I saw one. I stepped on it.......
Since many species of snakes are able to modify their bodies for specific purposes, such as Cobras who form hoods and Hog Noses who flatten their necks and heads to *look* like Cobras, it may be the snake was modifying itself to greatest advantage in water.
[but now I wonder why Hog Noses intentionally mimic Cobras when no Cobras exist in Hog Nose habitats]
