A New York financier has been killed in a shark attack while scuba diving off the coast of Costa Rica, the country's Environment Ministry announced.

Rohina Bhandari, 49, a senior director at WL Ross & Co. LL, was identified by friends as the American tourist who was fatally attacked last Thursday.

She was dragged from the Pacific Ocean after sustaining severe bites to her legs but could not be saved. Her 26-year-old diving instructor was also badly injured.

Irony. There’s so little of it in the world. When it’s encountered it should be sipped slowly and savored like a fine Scotch whisky.

And that is why I no longer go into the ocean. Last time I was at my nearest beach of New Smyrna Fl there was a 5 Ft shark swimming very close to shore.

sorry for her, but being in areas of water known for having sharks is quite foolish.

I know what you mean.

In 1990 I signed up for a shark diving July 4th vacation. The week before I left I went into panic mode. WTF! Why the hell am I jumping into a shark feeding frenzy on purpose? I told my boss, just in case. I called my parents who were living in Europe at the time. Told them all my bills were paid off and the will could be found underneath the bed in a shoe box.

At O’Hare I walked up to the female dive instructor and told her I was insane signing up for this. She looked at me puzzled and asked why. I told her because sharks are man-eaters. She said with a serious face, “You have nothing to worry about. You are a woman.” Laughed my head off.

The first dive was off of Long Key, Bahamas the sharks circled the boat and you had to jump in, go down 30 feet and find a place under a coral reef shelf. I figured I'd go second. The first diver would get eaten and I'd scurry down and find a cozy place. Didn't want to be caught outside the shelf. It was a great dive.

We did the dive again a few hours later. This time I was first down and stayed outside the coral reef shelf. The Bulls were just interested in the fresh tuna that was being served. They swam all around me but did not touch me. It was great!

That was your training for avoiding the madness of liberalism and political correctness.

Good for you.
