Detectives with the Special Operations Division were parked in an unmarked vehicle in the 5900 block of Page. They were wearing tactical gear with the words "Police" across their chests.
A man got out of the vehicle at at stoplight at around 11:20 a.m. and pointed an AK-style weapon at them. He told the officers to get out of the vehicle...

< He dropped to the ground.>
it was the smart move.
The 21-year-old suspect from north St. Louis County was shot in the arms and legs. He dropped to the ground.

He might have been 21 years old, but I strongly suspect he is still a ‘teen’.
Hey Grunt. You’re St-stuttering
This is obviously entrapment on the part of the police.
These perps don’t have name and are difficult to describe thus that information is not available.
The proper protocol is to shoot at center mass. These officers obviously need more range time.
My link froze and I overreacted, clicking more than once.
I knew right away what was happening, my bad.
“
They said my speed was next to none
But my lightning draw had just begun
When I heard a blast that stung my wrist ...”
Now my R/T (Reaction Time)can be measured on a kitchen clock.
Still better than a sundial?
Black male in his twenties . . . . . . who’d a thunk ??!
At least they gave a description in the SECOND, UPDATED newscast !!
The 21-year-old suspect from north St. Louis County
Hope at least one of the detectives is black or their actions will be second guessed to death.

Don’t blame yourself. These double posts are usually caused by the Russians. Or by Global Warming. Or by both.
I can't imagine what this was. Could have been anything. Journalists think everything is an AK-47 or an AR-15 or something awful.
“The proper protocol is to shoot at center mass. These officers obviously need more range time.”
I would rather not think of being inside of a car with the windows up and discharging a weapon.
Anticipating the possible discomfort.
I have a serious flinch, my buddies tell me it happens long after the projectile is down range.
If you ever happen to be at AO Orange RVN, keep an eye out, I lost my hearing there.
Maybe someone will find it?
They had gear which identifies them as police, and this dude still tried to carjack them?? Wow.......
Reminds me of a story a while back, in which a bank robber went in a bank, where a policeman just happened to be at the time, and attempted his robbery. Of course with a cop right there, the robber was quickly subdued.
“These double posts are usually caused by the Russians. Or by Global Warming. Or by both.”
Not the Russians, no way.
The Ruskies have a lot going for them and can be tough.
But they have a major holdback.
Near as I can determine, every one of them has a minimum of six different names.
More if they use the many different Russian alphabets.
This makes it difficult to organize anything beyond a BYO drinking party.
I totally enjoyed “Crime and Punishment”, but the name thing made my brain hurt.
I have a relative that dated a DC detective in the 1970s. A one family get-together, he said he was in court, and the guy on trial was complaining to the judge that the cops were shooting at his head, when they should have been shooting at his feet.
“This is obviously entrapment on the part of the police.”
No doubt about it.
They are going for the low hanging fruit.
Still not as much fun as the remote-controlled $$$ car with the keys in it, just sitting there.
Once they move it, kill the engine and lock the doors.
They make for interesting youtube viewing.
“Forget it, Jake; it’s St Louis”
The 21 year old suspect is an honor student at St. Louis University and expected to graduate Magna Cum Laude.
