Heres a bitter taste for you. Bill Penzey of Penzeys Spices says being upset at players in the National Football League (NFL) who protest during the national anthem is racist.
In his Veterans Day email to customers, Penzey explained the reason for the players protesting: For Veterans Day, out of respect for Veterans, can we all just be honest and admit that the NFL protests really are about racism?
Except theyre not. They supposedly started as protests against police treatment of minorities. And, of course, its impossible to separate the message from being a protest against America because it is during the national anthem.
But Penzey says people being upset about the protests by NFL players are really saying something else.
I guess we should feel lucky that, even in the height of MAGA America, very few in the pro-racism camp feel secure enough to counter the NFL payers protests by openly defending racism, Penzey wrote. Instead, theyve employed the tactic Fox and the right so often use when their side of an argument is indefensible of claiming that the other side is not saying what they are saying, they are actually saying something they are not saying.
Okay, that last sentence is a real head-spinner. claiming that the other side is not saying what they are saying, they are actually saying something they are not saying.
(Of course, its Penzey saying what theyre not saying when he claims the NFL players are saying something that theyre not saying, and thats saying something. Or not.)
Penzey then claims the players are putting their careers on the line, despite the evidence to the contrary, because people opposed to the protests are saying the protests are not about racism.
Of course defending an indefensible position by reporting lies about those you oppose is propaganda, its immoral, and just plan wrong, Penzey wrote. It is a tactic used often, but nowhere is it more damaging than with what they are doing right now by cloaking racism with the American flag.
And then Penzey blames it all on President Donald Trump. This administration is squandering Americas good will in a failed attempt to return our country to the constant racism of 50 years ago, Penzey wrote. By wrapping racism in the American flag they will not turn back time, but they will risk turning our flag into a symbol of their racism. We cant let that happen. America has come at too high of a cost to let it be thrown away by those who appear to have so little sense of its value.
So if youre a patriotic American thats upset every time an NFL player takes a knee or does some other form of protest during the national anthem, youre a racist, and youre turning the American flag into a symbol of your racism.
Well note Bill Penzeys stores are not exactly located among minority-heavy populations, and that hes actually trying to sell in Republican areas that voted for Trump. But like the NFL, Penzey and the NFL players have taken to insulting their customer bases as a business model and youre racist if you disagree with either one of them. Perhaps Penzey identifies with the NFL because insulting his customer base hasnt been the best business practice for him, too. They deserve each other.
But whats especially galling is that while Penzey is attacking defenders of patriotism and the flag as racist, he uses veterans as cover for his views. What does respecting veterans have to do with supporting protests that disrespect the American flag? Or calling those opposed to the protests a bunch of racists? What Penzey is really trying to do is use veterans as shields for his obnoxious leftwing views and stifle any criticism.
Penzey wraps his little tirade with a bunch of recipes from veterans, even though he concedes he has no idea what their views are of the NFL protests. Perhaps theyre racists, too, in Penzeys mind.
The use of those recipes from veterans to shield his business from criticism is not respecting veterans, but insults them by using them as stage props for his own propaganda. (Which the NFL infamously did for a number of years, too.) Penzey should start respecting veterans first before lecturing anyone else about how to respond to NFL player protests during the national anthem.
Please don't buy spices from this guy! His sister owns, 'The Spice House' in Milwaukee, and she keeps her politics to herself. (The family split the business up, years ago; she disavows him, too!)
Any other mail-order recommendations would be appreciated! I'm still trying to re-create their, 'Sunny Paris' blend.

Ping Worthy for your cooking thread? I want this guy to hurt.
Penzey sounds like a panzey.
This jackass doesn’t know when to quit, does he? It’s probably been close to a year since I posted one of the threads about this guy, and we’re still working our way through a mountain of previously-purchased spices from his company.
We haven’t spent another dime with him since, and have told plenty of people about his alienating a significant portion of his customer base.
Which is precisely what Krapernik and the fellas of color originally did.
It's fun to see our enemies tap dance, shuffle, and project.
Same here! I still have a lot to use up and I won’t waste it, but I sure won’t buy any more.
I did order some items through, ‘The Spice House’ just to keep my $ within my state, but I’d like to find another source or two as well.
Folks on the cooking thread mentioned this company’s political activism long ago. As I recall, quite a few of us have been boycotting for at least a couple of years.
WHAT?
(Penzey isn't Penske material).

Seriously though,
I used to order from Penzey's years ago until I started seeing the virue-signaling PC propaganda bent to their customer stories. I figured that the featured families would soon include the mis-wired types, and sure enough.
Then the 'equality' logo appeared and that whole schtick he's got with 'love' made more sense than I wanted to know.
Sorry I ever ordered from them but at least I caught on before the masked dropped.
It's like those businesses who wave the rainbow flag... I say a quiet 'Thanks' that the proprietor tipped me off to his/her customer preferences.
Why do adults wearing helmets acting like children receive millions to protect a football when there are those who wear a helmet to protect our country are vilified?
So...This pansy owns Penzey?

Oh good, I hadn’t had anyone call me racist in about a week, I thought I was starting to slip. Well, I’m still a former NFL fan, and it looks like that is going to be permanent. And yes, it is 100% on them - the idiots disrespecting me, my family members who served and are serving, my Flag, and my Country. Racist? If being a patriot marks me as racist, i wear the label proudly. Go pound paprika Penzy.
Penzy has been on two of my ban lists - Trump Haters and LGBT supporters. Just added them to my National Felons League supporters. This isn’t the first time they’ve shown their hatred and racist stance. They’re on the Trump Haters list for calling conservative whites racists a long time ago.
Glad to hear about the boycotting. What a cr@p weasel. So annoyed with myself that I’ve spent SO MUCH MONEY through the years with that company - I was easily a customer for 20 years! Grrrrr!
LOL! A little levity is always appreciated! :)
“Go pound paprika Penzey.”
LOVE. IT. :)
I had never bought anything from them, but had their catalogs and had planned to buy.
Glad I got a clue ;-)
