2018 Healthcare Premium Increases (ugh!)
11-2-17 | Self

Posted on 11/02/2017 12:00:01 PM PDT by CincyRichieRich

I am very positive, and if Trump were not president, I'd be livid...I should not be surprised, but still I am.

I have an Anthem $11,500 deductible policy for my family of 4. It is going up Jan 1 from $514 to $605, or roughly 20%.

I am pissed, of course.

I hope this thread drives good discussion.

I believe under Trump in 2018 we'll see some improvement and competition...am I correct that the increases are due to profit shortfalls the obama-partnering healthcare execs are hedging and covering their losses?

Ant thoughts out there from those more plugged in this field than I?

Count your blessings. My and my husband's monthly premium is increasing by $400.00, from about $2,300.00 to $2,700.00. That's not a typo--we're to pay 27 hundred every month. Our deductible is increasing from 5,000 per person to 7,000 per person. It's ludicrous, but at our age we can't afford to be without it. Too bad cheap catastrophic coverage is not permitted.

Nothing’s free. If you’re not paying for it, someone else is.

I have the cheapest plan availa - a bronze plan in Maine - the premium is going from $667 a month to $888 a month.

Thanks, Obama and Susan Collins!

True. On the other hand, how much does it actually cost to do?

Some perspective:

It is crazy. Back in the day the companies provided health care and for some reason 30 years ago, they decided to drop it and have people fend for themselves. That is when something should have happened. I can’t see how companies can drop pensions AND health care and save all that money......what are they doing with the boon in savings? That is a question that is NEVER answered.

I’m sure all insurance premiums will go up. Is there anyone that can hold them down? The insurances companies, I mean.

The premium only went up from $500-something to $600-something for a family of 4? And he is complaining?

My wife’s premium went up to $1,200-something a month with a $7,500 deductible. That’s only for my wife, not a family of 4.

I think we are in this together; I don’t think it’s a competition for who’s is worse...I was actually hoping to discuss what may happen next year with it all imploding...unless our rinos bail it out.

I feel for you.

You have no understanding of how business works, how to run a business and why businesses exist. If you did you would not ask a stupid question like that.

Well when we are required to buy it they have us over a barrel.

Were we allowed to walk away they compete for our business.

How did they run in 1950’s genius. Obviously they were thriving during that time and everyone was making huge money. So it can be done. I run a business and trust me, the taxes are high, but not paying for medical and pensions saves me a ton of money that is a fact.

“How did they run in 1950’s genius”

You really don’t know, do you?

“I run a business and trust me, the taxes are high, but not paying for medical and pensions saves me a ton of money that is a fact.”

Ok, so stop being “greedy” and pay for medical and pension in your business that you “run” like businesses did in the 50s and see if you can stay in business.

To you, except for your own business, apparently, companies exist to provide their employees medical benefits and pensions.
