It wasn’t exclusively black people who were lynched. People crossing picket lines and even white suspects were murdered.
There is a famous incident where a lynch mob rioted trying to get into a police station to haul out a black man accused of a crime. The police successfully protected the man from the lynch mob. There had been another lynching the month before of a white suspect.
Just as the victims of rape and sexual abuse are not exclusively female.
