Momentum: National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Now Has 212 House Co-Sponsors

Legislation to fix the cumbersome patchwork of concealed carry laws in the U.S. has gained momentum with the addition of a 212th co-sponsor in the House of Representatives.

The legislation–H.R. 38–was put forward by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) on January 3, 2017. Breitbart News reported that it will make the concealed carry permit of any one state valid in the other 49–just like a driver’s license–and will also allow residents of permitless carry states to carry in any state, provided they have government documentation proving their residency in a permitless carry state.

On June 21, Breitbart News reported that 199 House members had signed on as co-sponsors of H.R. 38. That number is now 212, with the latest co-sponsor being House Judiciary Chairman Rob Goodlatte (R-VA). In light of Goodlatte’s support, the NRA sees an opportunity to get national reciprocity enacted and is asking Second Amendment supporters to contact their Representatives:

If Concealed Carry reciprocity isn't included in the final gun grabber bill, the GOP needs to walk away. If they want something, they're going to have to give something. And if they can't give us this, it's their fault-not ours.

Would be nice, but I doubt Paul Ryan will ever let this come up for a vote. Like Nancy Pelosi says, “We didn’t win the election, but we’ve won every fight” - and Ryan is one reason for that.

It would be really sweet to see this pass. I’d love to be able to travel to nearby California or to DC or NYC with my CCW.

It seems like every time we have a mass shooting, we are expected to sit back and let Democrats and RINOs erode the second amendment. And at the same time, they don't anything to prevent future mass shootings from occurring...because, sadly, there really is no way to prevent future mass shootings from occurring. And so over the years, we have ceded inch after inch to the Democrats on this issue and have received not one inch in return.

So, utterly predictably, here we are again, arguing about gun control days after a massacre. And we are expected to cede another inch or maybe even two and in exchange, they offer nothing as usual.

Well, the political landscape has changed and the entire government is controlled by the GOP now thanks, in VERY large part, to people who value the second amendment and I'm here to say, the GOP had better recognize that because there will be consequences if they screw this up.

Not another inch unless an inch is given in return.

Exactly. We’re standing at the goal line here and we have the ball. There had better not be any fumbles or interceptions.

The 2nd Amendment covers this on the national level and only need to be re-iterated.

Oh really? Go strap a Glock onto your hip and visit New York or Califirnia and reiterate your rights to the first trooper you come across. Be sure to let us all know how it worked out for you. It should be a real good story. LOL.

Exactly, the Second Amendment is my carry permit. Of what intrinsic value is government permission to carry? You think NY is going to buy into this idea? You carry and takes your chances. No worse than getting shot, beat up, assaulted, or worse.

Ask Terell Coleman how that philosophy worked out for him. I think he's out on bail right now awaiting to be tried for felony possession of a handgun in New York.

You realize that you are talking about the Congressional Republican leadership, right?

That's like your QB huddling with the defense every time you have ball.

How's that working out?

How many of Tyrell’s other inalienable rights were violated by the state?

You can’t get there from here.

What are you saying? I’m saying per the US Constitution 2nd Amendment.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

What part of this is in dispute?

“the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

My point precisely NY isn’t buying in no matter what so you make sure you don’t carry there or you make damn sure it’s concealed at all times and you take extreme measures that don’t get John Law’s attention.
