Malia Obama Harassed at Harvard...I'm Not an Animal
TMZ ^ | 8/26/2017 | Staff

Malia Obama just arrived at Harvard, but she's having trouble blending in, especially Saturday when she felt harassed by a woman hell-bent on getting a photo.

Eyewitnesses tell TMZ, Malia was in Harvard Square with a friend. As she approached a salad shop, a woman ran up to her and said she wanted a photo for her grandchild. We're told Malia politely declined.

The grandma was undeterred and staked out the salad joint, waiting for Malia to leave. When she did, we're told the grandma trained her camera on the former First Daughter and Malia fired back, "Are you gonna take it in my face like an animal in a cage?"

An eyewitness said the grandma ended up getting the photo.

[[Perhaps they were there and determined they could not arrest a person on a public street taking photos with a camera.]]

They can’t arrest photographers- unless the photographers threaten the person being photographed or something- photographers have the right to photograph people in public-

I've met two or three famous people in my life...including "Cream",who we met in a restaurant in '67 and a famous billionaire (for whom my Dad worked) who came to my Mom's funeral. All the encounters were very brief and respectful.

Does this girl have a right to expect that she'll never be anything more than mildly annoyed by members of the general public? Yes,I'd say so.Does she have the right to expect that nobody will ever recognize her and make it clear that they've recognized her? No way!

It might be fun to spend some time in Harvard Square to see if I could spot here.I'd know if it was her if a young, slim black girl was walking around with several big, burly middle aged guys in tow.

A little humility would do this unclassy dame...

Being retired and living in the area I just might make time to hang out in,and near,Harvard Yard to catch a glimpse of her.I'm retired from one of the medical school's teaching hospitals so my ID would probably allow me to do this....during daylight hours at least.

If I happen to see her I'll get back to you regarding the level of humility I detect! :-)

If Malia were smart, she would arrange to get a room for a few hours a week from Harvard, and establish Office Hours, and then print up a thousand cards with her name, the Room Number, and the times.

If anybody bothers her on the stret or at her dorm, she can just hand out a card, and say that she is busy and can’t deal with the request right at that moment, but invite the person to discuss it with her at Office Hours.

99% of the people who take the card will not bother to show up, but nobody will be able to say that she is not willing to share her time. Her only request would be to do so at a time and place that is convenient to her

Since nobody will show up, it will be a few hours a week where she can sit alone in a quiet room and catch up on her studying, which is something every college Freshman can certainly use.

She is an adult. Not a kid—think she’s almost old enough to get drunk legally. I’m interested to see how gracelessly she handles the burden of this celebrity.

The law is on the side of the photographer, but manners are on the side of the daughter of the former occupant of our White House. A decent person would have allowed her some privacy, regardless of whether human decency is required by law.

Perhaps Malia needs to accept the fact that some photographers are rude, but that doesn’t change the fact that the conduct was rude.

If I did it I'd do it as much for an opportunity to get a look at the Secret Service agents than her.In August of last year I was able to attend a Trump rally in New Hampshire. The rally itself was outstanding but at the end, when everyone was trying to leave (the gym was an absolute sauna) I got to exchange a few words with one of the Secret Service agents guarding the exit.I found that almost as interesting as hearing what DJT had to say.
