Donations to certified disaster relief agencies should be 50-100% deductible. That is direct aid, not filtered through gubmint.

Money spent directly helping people in a disaster (like Harvey hitting SE Texas) is much more efficiently spent.

I’m ready to help but don’t want any Clinton Haiti like shenanigans. Do you have a recommendation?

The Red Cross is as top heavy as the fed gov. I am pretty sure the head of the RC makes more than the POTUS.

I agree. Stay away for Red Cross, all they want is money and they don’t use it as intended.

Many of us have researched the best charitable organizations for disaster relief and which spend the greatest percentage of their donations directly helping people. The very best is the Salvation Army, and one of the worst is the Red Cross.

Churches, and individuals, did more to directly help the people than any government org during Katrina.

Red Cross and Salvation Army? Weren’t these two organizations that boycotted Trump’s Mar-a-Lago hotel because he didn’t say the ‘right’ words about Charlotsville?

Samaritans Purse is my favorite charity. They have a strong track record of actually using donations for the needy.

Avoid Salvation Army. They cancelled a fund raiser at Trumps resort after Charlottesville. I think Salvation Army needs to rely on antifa donations going forward.

Often local churches can best put the money to good use. A good one is Second Baptist. Contact them directly at 713-365-6020.

Stay away from red cross
Look up red cross and Haiti

Look up churches in flood zone and contribute cash to them
They take care of anyone who needs aid

Yes Red Cross and Salvation Army try to embarrass the Trumps by making big deal out of canceling events at Mar a Lago

But Red Cross is corrupt
Collected $500 million for Haiti
Built 6 houses

I gave up on the Salvation Army because I got tired of receiving multiple fundraising letters per week.
