Adams followed the victim down the street “for a considerable distance” before shooting Briggs with the arrow. Witnesses said Briggs stumbled from the home, leaving a trail of blood, before collapsing with the arrow still in his chest.
Those two statements seem a bit contradictory. Just sayin'

Geez, nasty weapon.
If I was a felon and could not own firearms, I would have a black powder revolver and a crossbow for home protection.
Those cap and ball revolvers are considered “firearm accessories”, not firearms themselves, so felons are legally allowed to own them. I wonder why more don’t so they aren’t caught with a gun and go back to prison.
But then, I am not as stupid as your average felon. That is one reason I’m not a felon.
