LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) - Editor's Note: This video is graphic in nature and should not be watched by all audiences.
Lufkin Police have released video at the request of a victim who was savagely attacked at a local convenience store.
The robbery takes place Saturday at Lucky's Convenience Store on North John Redditt Drive.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Richard "Ricky" Archer. He was badly bruised and broken, but thankful to be alive, police said.
The victim said he hopes people will be more aware of their surroundings after seeing what happened to him.
Police stated Archer's wife was waiting for him in their vehicle as he went inside to pay for gas. They were just about to leave town for a Houston Astros game.
The victim said Andrea Franks-Vanzandt, 21, grabbed $35 he had pulled from his wallet. He expected a friend playing a joke when he looked up, but instead saw the robber.
In the video, you can allegedly see Vanzandt beat up Archer. At one point, he viciously kicks the victim in his head with full force before grabbing his cash and leaving.
The suspect was captured 10 minutes later at the Pioneer Crossing Apartment Complex.

In a CCW state without a CCW gun. This is what can happen. He is lucky to be alive.
If Obama had a son, he would look like that anti-technology Amish gentleman.
would a 3rd party (for example, another customer) have trouble with the law if he shot the robber, as the robber was giving the other man a beating?
If 0bama had a son would he be hollering about aloha snackbar?
“In the video, you can allegedly see Vanzandt beat up Archer.”
Allegedly.
I don't know about all states, but in Colorado and Florida there would not be a problem protecting another person. I suspect Texas is the same. Protecting another person can carry risks such as a person who states they did not want lethal force used or if the situation was misunderstood by the shooter. I thinkit would have been a good shoot in most states.
In Texas, no.
....kicking someone in the head should be considered attempted murder....
The beer buying customer was certainly no help. The victim needs to workout more on the heavy bag and spar enough to instantly assume a 3/4 stance and prepare to move.
If he had a gun up that close he risks losing it too. If armed he should have said, “Sure daddy-o the wallet is yours” as he stepped back, drew his weapon, and fired to shots into the zip wad.
Unfortunately, I was correct that this was Black on White violence. I thought either black or hispanic or muslim. Somebody had to dehumanize the victim to do all this over $35.00. Somebody barely needed a reason to express his hatred for the other person.
And after all that, he was caught in less than 30 minutes, thank God for that.
Situational awareness is your friend. I’m always on the lookout for potential threats. I consider my concealed firearm to be my last line of defense, not my first.
no he would not...
Unfortunately he was not perforated and facing judgement day. I do not care about his skin pigment, only actions.
this is why i constantly carry my Glock 20 10 mm...please let this happen to me...just once.
In brighter news, the Lufkin Little League advanced to the Little League World Series.
Not in Florida or Texas. Defense of another who is in grave danger is a perfectly legitimate justification for using deadly force.
Yes, because no White or Hispanic punk has ever mugged someone violently under the same circumstances, right? Jeez...
I carry anyplace it is legal. Of more importance I shoot a lot on my own range in my back yard.
However of greatest importance is to be acutely aware of possible dangers around you at all times. Although I almost always carry I can be taken out if not aware of my surroundings.
Do no go to places where you may be in danger, even if you are carrying.
