Wow, this is crazy. Deep State knifing Sessions or Trump knifing him to get him to resign to get a new AG confirmed and take control over the investigation.

Both are very plausible.

If true, why didn’t the Deep State release such info. before the election?

Not illegal or unethical. But illustrative of why Sessions recused himself.

I like Sessions, BUT too many screw-ups since he’s been A.G. with the biggest being Rosenstein IMO. I also think priorities are a tad screwed up.

The Democrats should be picking their bloodied, and bruised bodies up off the floor instead of sitting at the table demanding more Cognac, AND GETTING IT.

This Senate will not confirm a replacement for Sessions.

1. I would hope Trump didn’t do that. However, that’s a theory going around. I don’t see Trump doing it to be honest.

2. Possibility - The deep state and Obama holdovers decided they hate Jeff Sessions. That said, he was confirmed. They figured they were stuck with Sessions, but now they see an opportunity with Trump’s discussion with the NYT. They know Trump is unhappy but likely wouldn’t fire him without further cause, and they know Sessions won’t resign. Therefore, release this.

For my part, I don’t care if they talked about the future of U.S. foreign relations under a Trump Administration. That said, best to just disclose it.

This is the WaPo, so I will await further confirmation of this.

"Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign."

As Creepy Uncle Joe Biden once said, "This is a big ****ing deal!"

Hope Sessions hangs in there long enough to let Trump recess appoint his replacement.

This is interesting and what follows will be more interesting.

However, I do not understand how a Presidential candidate or someone with a campaign talking to a diplomat is more nefarious and more of a threat to national security than foreign governments funneling money to Presidential campaign coffers or foundations controlled by elected / non elected gov’t employees.

For that matter, foreign governments donating to McCain’s foundation is IMHO also a threat to national security.

Here we go again. “Officials” familiar with intercepts say. Mr. X, says. I say. Whoever says.

Always unnamed, likely non-existent.

I find it funny that these idiots would actually want Sessions to resign so that a non-conflicted AG can get appointed who will not have to recuse from the Russia investigation. That AG can then open a can of whoop arse on Mueller.

Quote: ‘. . . according to current and former U.S. officials.’

How many damn stories have started with this line? I would love to see Sessions go but not based on WaPo propaganda, which if true are based on treasonous leaks of classified info, but more likely are utter fabrications.

It is puzzling. After the Left’s successful gambit on the Russia recusal, they know that Sessions can be played.

What do they gain if Sessions goes?

I doubt it...Sessions already offered his resignation a couple months ago and Trump rejected it.
