Artificial intelligence software could generate highly realistic fake videos of former president Barack Obama using existing audio and video clips of him, a new study finds.
Such work could one day help generate digital models of a person for virtual reality or augmented reality applications, researchers say.
Computer scientists at the University of Washington previously revealed they could generate digital doppelgängers of anyone by analyzing images of them collected from the Internet, from celebrities such as Tom Hanks and Arnold Schwarzenegger to public figures such as George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Such work suggested it could one day be relatively easy to create such models of anybody, when there are untold numbers of digital photos of everyone on the Internet.
The researchers chose Obama for their latest work because there were hours of high-definition video of him available online in the public domain. The research team had a neural net analyze millions of frames of video to determine how elements of Obama's face moved as he talked, such as his lips and teeth and wrinkles around his mouth and chin.

What they can’t do is program intuition, gut feeling, into AI. When what appears to be right but your intuition says “nope” AI can’t do that.
For years I have been looking forward to new John Wayne or Humphrey Bogart movies.
They already use this to create fake news like Sandy Hook.
Hollywood has replicated fake AI Obamas.
The world already has a fake Obama. Why woud we need another?

I remember a claim several years ago that CGI could resurrect old stars like Errol Flynn and star him in brand new movies so that it could not be recognized as CGI on the screen.

See...THAT is what I am most afraid of. Some democrap CGI-geek decides he is going to make a video that smears the President. If this tech is the real deal, the demo-geek could make the video of President Trump saying or doing something outrageous that he didn’t do, which the media would pound into the public consciousness. They’d say “See???? He is unfit!!! Get rid of him!!”
This capability is dangerous when in the wrong hands.
There was an interesting Twilight Zone type show in 1980 called The Darkroom. One of the episodes I still remember was that of a TV anchorman who was in the hospital. Mysterious people came in and filmed him from every angle, and made him recite strange sentences.
Finally, the network's CEO came to the hospital to see the Anchor. The anchor told the CEO he was feeling better and that he could be back at work soon. The CEO turned on the TV in the room, and there was the anchor doing the day's news. He said. "There isn't any need for you anymore. We have a record of your looks, and voice, and software can recreate you now. It's a lot cheaper this way. Of course, you can't tell anyone, so we'll have to keep you locked up here for the rest of your life."
