Macy’s is planning to pull the plug on its Fourth of July fireworks display near the Brooklyn Bridge — and revelers who counted on dazzling views in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan are seeing red.
Fireworks will light up the sky above five barges on the East River between 24th and 41st streets, unlike last year’s showcase, which featured a breathtaking display near the Brooklyn Bridge, according to Macy’s reps.
Scrapping the show near the iconic bridge leaves neighborhoods including Battery Park, South Street Seaport and Brooklyn Heights in the dark, angry residents and business owners said.
Claire Long 26, a financial analyst who lives on Willow Street in Brooklyn Heights, said she and her husband may be forced to cancel their roof-deck bash.
“We may have to change our plans — there won’t be as good of a view as we expected,” she fumed. “We’re definitely bummed.”
Bar and restaurant owners who planned for stunning views expect to lose thousands of dollars.

If Macy’s wasn’t charging money for watching the display, and no one pre-purchased tickets for it, then all the whiners can suck it.

Fireworks, parades, school children singing songs of Hillary, TV specials, schools and highways named after her, statues of her, MSM fawning over her day after day while she stuck it right up the arse of this country. If she won right about now we’d be seeing millions of refugees, illegals swarming into this country with the economy tanking like an upside down rocket ship fast tracking to 3rd world status. This is a woman who is on tape saying she wanted to get rid of US borders. We didn’t dodge a bullet with her losing, we dodged a nuclear bomb and these leftists are too stupid to realize it. This will be the best 4th in recent memory as a re-establishment of our independence and love of country after 8 years of darkness under a totalitarian regime.
Sheesh. New Yorkers haven’t heard of a fundraising drive? We have one here in my town and always raise enough for a big show on the 4th. If a million New Yorkers ponied up a dollar each, that’d make for one helluva display.

Possible, they like ‘soft targets’. A moslem with a bomb in his backpack could find many large crowds with little security, (a perfect place to detonate) - causing maximum carnage...
The Macy’s fireworks barges near the Brooklyn Bridge is a new and not usual thing. There is no reason for Brooklynites to think they are being deprived of something they were entitled to. NYC altogether is fortunate Macy’s had done this on their own dime all these years.
