No draft. Huge problems with our completely traitorous population demographics. Its impractical without first having a very successful bigly record of foreign policy actions.

Trump would need to be single handedly successful at things like making a peace in the mideast and at decoupling soros money from political meddling.

Its a bridge that needs a huge amount of swamp dredging in order to lay down a foundation for.

No. America is a freer country with a better military than in 1974. While I'm all for increasing the percentage of the population who serve in the military, bringing back the draft would be used as an excuse to cut military pay and benefits while filling the military with losers who were too stupid to evade it - and the people who write draft laws always build in ways to avoid it, for their own kids.

I would however support legislation that prohibited federal funding to any public school that granted a teaching credential to someone who was not honorably discharged from the military. The best two teachers I ever had were a former WAC nurse who served in WWII and a former Air Force pilot who wracked up a Saber jet in Korea and had the burn scars to show for it.

No. Our armed forces are way to technically driven to have just any one

no, no draft. The quality of the all volunteer forces is far superior to a drafted fighting force.

Unless the US is in a REAL war, then NO! You’ll get an inferior soldier, and you will be forcing free citizens into servitude. In the battle that is the government versus free people, we cannot let the government win.

How did some of the characters like Bradley Manning, that other scumbag whose parents soetoro fetted at the White House and the enemy islamist vermin that shot up Fort Hood...and the other islamist pig-dog who killed 5 of his “fellow” soldiers in Iraq, get into the service to begin with.

It seems to me that their needs to be some system for filtering out psychopaths from the beginning without the need to deal with disaffected types already bent on sedition, Treason and other warped behaviors.

Not true.

War of 1812 the British invaded and even burned the White House.

In 1916 Pancho Villa invaded New Mexico

In WWII, the Japanese invaded Alaska

Wow some leap there. Maybe they will learn to shoot and respect the weapon. Maybe they’ll shoot at real enemies instead of their neighbors. Maybe they will learn some respect and get them off the street corners and dark allies.

Riiiiight.

They should have never got rid of the draft.

The draft should have ended in September 1945

We don’t need a military made of of malcontent, snowflake cry babies. We need smart, dedicated patriotic warriors!!! That’s what we have now and they are the best in the world.

No. For future wars we need small, well trained, expensively armed forces. With lots of ammo and logistics. A huge army is just a logistical burden with not much firepower.

We can get incredible firepower with relatively few belly buttons these days.

Trump with his manly cabinets and improving military, especially “annihilation” Mattis, will make it again popular to be in the service.

It's already popular to be in the service. All branches are meeting their enlistment and retention goals, and have been now for several years. We don't even need to give bonuses anymore to enlist and retain people, except in a very small handful of highly-skilled rates.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that the military is struggling to attract recruits. We've been turning them away!

[ Heinlein had the right idea:

NO citizenship whatsoever unless a person PROVES he or she is worthy of it. Make it two years volunteer service in the military. No matter what condition or disability they will HAVE to find you a job. One that must be fulfilled to the very best of a person’s ability.

Only then could a person be allowed to vote, hold office, receive student aid, get welfare benefits etc. ]

AGREE 100% Cannot be stated enough! Those who fight for their freedom to vote shall be trusted with the RESPONSIBILITY TO VOTE!

So I will post it AGAIN!

Amen to that! Our fighting men have been turned into NWO mercenaries for at least the last 100 years of war.

No. Modern war needs skills.
Drafting a lot of clueless millennials who don't want to work won't build a decent military.

But offering more scholarships and apprenticeships for skilled mechanics etc. will encourage more kids to sign up.

The failure of the elites to encourage their kids to join up says a lot about the elites.

On the other hand, maybe we need more waivers, so kids with borderline test skills or who can't pass a PT test can still sign up to get training in specialized fields.

Oh Lord, your post is so wrong on so many levels. Where to start?

First, lets talk about philosophy for a moment. Let’s not use nice little buzz words like “draftees”. Let’s call it what them what they really are; slaves. So we’re going to defend ideas like liberty and freedom with people who under compulsion of force must serve? Isn’t that just a little ironic?

Then let’s get into pragmatics. The military is all about, or should be all about, winning wars. It’s not a place to try out social justice theories, or to try to reform scumbags. It’s about protecting our homeland with armed force with people who can do that effectively.

But even if the military were equipped to try to try to make those who don’t want to serve into effective fighters, they still would have to deal with the fact that the average American youth is not at all qualified to be in the military. They’re either not in good enough health or too ignorant to serve effectively. Or they’re addicted or criminals. Sad but true.

Finally, compulsory military service is a really bad idea politically. Having an all volunteer force acts as a check and balance on the political class. We should preserve that.

“In WWII, the Japanese invaded Alaska”

Alaska wasn’t a State until 1959.

Villa was a criminal, not a nation.

We declared war in England in 1812.

To date, no other nation has invaded the USA.

I am tired of fighting politicians’ wars.

Your comment surprised me, and I had a flash of insight.

I wonder if a complete reversal of “social engineering” in the military, and a return to an “Onward, Christian Soldiers” mentality, along with very high standards of morality, honor, and integrity in training would attract far more of the best and brightest of our young men to serve.

As a woman, I have the right to state my opinion on women in the military. We do not belong on the ships, in ground combat, or in air warfare.

We can serve with distinction, as we did in the past, behind the lines. Let men be men, and let women be women. When we are at war, or are training for war, we should not co-mingle, for it distracts us from our responsibilities and goals.

Besides, it will make prolonged war very unattractive to both sexes!

How do we change our culture to accomplish this? We have to speak up, everywhere that we don’t think these social experiments, no matter how well intended, are working, or will ever work. Ever so slowly, we can turn around this idiotic mess that has been created by social justice believers.
