Police in Oregon had to issue a "verbal warning" to a cat in a tree, reportedly armed with a gun-shaped stick.
The Newport Oregon Police Department shared a photo of the black and white cat that was perched in a tree with its paw holding a stick that looked like an automatic rifle.
Officers quickly responded to the scene where they determined the cat did not pose any immediate threat.
"Reports of an armed cat this morning were unfounded," police said. "The feline was contacted by our canine and was determined to be in possession of a non-lethal branch."
The Police Department ended its post by stating that the cat had been apprehended and was charged with several offenses.

Zen you are clearly NOT an elephant.
I swore off Tequila after a strange night in Brownsville. I was about 25. Had receipts from bloody Matamoros in my pockets when I woke up. I considered gnawing my arm off rather than waking the beast beside me. Never again.
disagree with you would rather a police force with a sense of humor then one with out. lived in a small town in Alaska for serval years. the local paper would print up crime reports from the police and every once in awhile you would get something funny like this.
Bangor Maine PD has a humorous Facebook page.

Haahaahaaa....I think it’s his cat.
Strangest tree branch I’ve ever seen. :)
Perfect photo for this story.
I take it she was ‘coyote ugly’?
Worse than.
I considered gouging my eyes out.
I could potentially make Laz look picky.
Ouch!
I am a pretty funny guy and can riff with the best of them. Was at a comedy place many years ago and Carrot Top was the headliner. Me and my date sat in the front row. He decided to pick on us. Big mistake. The crowd laughed him off the stage.
Cops should be cops and not amateur comedians. Hell they have a hard enough time being professional as LEO’s. A cop trying to be funny is like a priest trying to be sexy. One in a 1000 can pull it off but just ewwwwww. The rest of the priests in bike shorts administering to the boys choir...
Made my point.
I agree with you about the police having to be professional with the public. if you read the article. you will discover it is just a posting on the new port city face book account. PUBLIC RELATIONS. it is not an official report.
Just a silly question. Why in the hell does a PD need a assface page?
why is it good for the police to have one of there police officers show up at a school in the costume k-nine cop McGruff. I went to the actual web page and looked at the postings. most of it was informing the public about what was going on with the police department. like I said Public relations.
