FULL TITLE: United is rated as the WORST large airline in the US - even before the company courted scandal over doctor who was dragged off a plane
United Airlines has been rated as the worst among its peers for customer satisfaction even before the scandal over a doctor who was dragged off a plane.
Those responding to an American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) study ranked United lower than all large airlines in the survey, which analyzed data from across all sectors.
Last month, Dr David Dao was violently dragged from his seat on a United flight after the airline oversubscribed the plane, but the survey was conducted before the unsavory incident.

United is a government-created monster. Think back to 2013 when United was allowed to take over Continental. Every bad result that was predicted has come true. The exception might be that ticket prices are low, but they make up for that with less amenities and more fees.
The trip down the drain started when Fast Eddie Carlson and his protege Dick Ferris took over the airline back in the 70’s.Hotel style management, deregulation, corporate managers greed and accelerating fuel and other costs along with a total disconnect between management and labor set the stage. Every known successful management technique was challenged and the result is today’s really ‘unUnited” airlines. Glad I’m retired.
I flew to Japan last year and all the entertainment screens in the plane died.
Hard to believe any airline is worse than Delta. Except maybe Aeroflot.
I have personal experience with Jet Blue, and it has been all good experience.
I used to fly Southwest and never had a problem. That was a while ago. I’ve heard good things about them over the years.
All my flying is in the western states, so I use Alaska Airlines exclusively. I have no complaints.
I was thinking the same thing about Delta. Tall or short, the only way to get enough leg space is to have an aisle seat and keep your legs in the aisle. Or at least that was my experience the last time I flew Delta, which was quite a few years ago. After that experience I have avoided Delta. Also, several of our rolling luggage bags were severely damaged after flying Delta.
Ha! I was on a United flight from Barcelona to Charlotte. 10 hours. My seat back TV screen died and I was ready to jump out of the plane due to boredom (I can’t sleep on planes). The super gay flight attendant was kind enough to bring my my own full sized bottle of wine. That’s the only nice story I have about United.
Same here, but I had my wife and three daughters (one being two) for fifteen hours. I can’t fall asleep either.
The beginning of the end for US airlines started with the $99 super saver fares in the late 1980s. One of my colleagues observed that flying quickly became like taking a bus in a third world country minus the live chickens.
I use them several times a year. Always on time and affordable.
The problem is that we do not have deregulated airlines, we have regulatory created lawlessness, where bad faith and breach of contract have no meaning anymore because the operator has passed on the moral hazard to the airline consumer.
A bunch of empty flights down the road? Cancel a flight, strand your passengers and rebook in the empty seats while not staffing your airline help desk or your call-in reservations.
Pass the cost of lost time, hotels, taxis and meals on to your consumers, as well as health problems from cramped space and uncomfortable seats (surely the cost of an orthopedic shaped piece of foam is no higher, bought in bulk, than an uncomfortable lump of foam).
It is time for the FAA to reregulate the airlines industry - instead of the regulatory enforced "deregulation" regime we have. I believe in the power of free markets, but air travel is a monopoly with high barriers to entry, and government created indemnities. It is the worst of all possible outcomes.
And they have effectively destroyed the business of professional travel agents as well, so they can't help you either.
I remember when wearing a suit on a flight was de rigueur.
...but smoking was not permitted, because the hydrogen-filled gas bags might have caught fire?
Regards,
The so called major US based carriers are so chintzy they are worse than many of the so called budget airlines. Many 3rd world airlines offer better service than US based carriers
Yep United is the worst with Spirit a close 2nd.
You beat me to it - hard to believe any airline is worse than Delta.
