VOne of the largest colonies of gentoo penguins in Antarctica was decimated by volcanic eruptions several times during the last 7,000 years according to a new study. An international team of researchers, led by British Antarctic Survey (BAS), studied ancient penguin guano and found the colony came close to extinction several times due to ash fall from the nearby Deception Island volcano. Their results are published today (Tuesday 11 April) in Nature Communications.
Ardley Island, near the Antarctic Peninsula, is currently home to a population of around 5,000 pairs of gentoo penguins. Using new chemical analyses of penguin guano extracted in sediment cores from a lake on the island, the researchers unraveled the history of the penguin colony. Climate conditions around Ardley Island have been generally favourable for penguins over the last 7,000 years and the team had expected the local population to show minor fluctuations in response to changes in climate or sea ice. The surprising result was that the nearby Deception Island volcano had a far greater impact than originally anticipated.

Lots of interesting photos at link. Somehow this will be Trump’s fault.
Decimated - reduced by 1/10th, so 90% still remains. Still an A.
This will be attributed to man made global warming.
The penguins displayed cowardice in battle and disloyalty to the Emperor Penguin, so they were required to draw lots and one in ten were put to the sword or crucified.
But in their time and place, the Penguin Legions were a force to be reckoned with. As when the local polar bears said *I reckon those penguins are mighty tasty....*
In one of my high schools, 94% was the beginning of A.
I talked to a lib who attributed a large earthquake to global warming and was furious at Republicans that the earthquake near Indonesia happened.
Couldn’t have been too bad, the Penguins are winning 3-1 in the 3rd Period.

...I talked to a lib who attributed a large earthquake to global warming...
More proof each day that liberalism is a psychotic mental condition.
If it was up to me, anything less than perfection 100% is not an A. Nobody gets an A. B is the new A. So, 90% is an A.
A+, A, A-
LOL
You are on a roll, tonight!
Throw a virgin into the crater to appease the volcano and to save the penguins!
GLOBAL WARMING!!!
Must have been back when the polar bears’ navy was the envy of the ancient world, able to sail from the Arctic to Antarctica with the crew eating only hardtack and dried seal blubber all the way...
It amazes me how much the newsliars try to fit global warming/climate change into just about every story nowadays; I guess they’ve gotten the memo that most Americans either don’t believe it or don’t care (in which case they must strive to make us believe and/or care). Read a news story about some type of fish that they wanted to regulate here in NJ/NY; the fishermen claimed there was no problem, the reporter admitted they had no data to confirm there was a problem, but the article still claimed climate change might play a role (in what?).
On the international scene it is just a gimmick to transfer money from industrious white people to less-motivated darker people (to put it kindly). Years ago I read a National Geographic story about the island of Hispaniola; it included a picture of the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic that resembled a desert meeting a forest in a perfectly straight line. The article described how Haitians, as they used up timber for firewood, never re-planted anything; apparently they were waiting for the French to return and do that for them. That same article today would have a very different angle to it; the media would never fault the Elois who mindlessly destroy their own ecosystem.
