futuristic video has emerged of a man flying on a hoverboard across the Atlantic Ocean.
The video shows Franky Zapata, chief executive of Zapata Racing, whizzing over the sea off the coast of France on a hoverboard that is available for the public to hire.

The Flyboard Air is a jet-powered board with four turbo engines, or an "Independent Propulsion Unit", that propel it upwards and forwards when travelling over land or sea. It stabilises itself in a similar way to a drone and can reach heights of up to 10,000 ft and speeds of 92.3mph. The board can fly for around 10 minutes.

The creator of the JETSONS cartoon show was a visionary.

I could see a set of those on a light weight frame in a motorcycle configuration.
As long as no one takes off or lands near something flammable or moderately easily melted.
The outputs of the engines are scorchers.
OMG, too cool. Kinda makes the old jet pack obsolete. I can only imagine where that technology goes from here.
10 minutes doesn’t work for me.
Make it an hour and I could buy this...
Any workarounds on that in the future?
I have no idea, just asking :)
Seems very stable indeed...

Would definitely love to muck about with one of these. :)
Soon to be seen on the next James Bond movie...
Well, he is wearing a backpack. Not clear if that is just a parachute or if he actually has fuel on his back.
Or built into an actual “board” shape. Silver Surfer, anyone ? A platform like that would allow the kerosene fuel to be carried in the device and not in the backpack. I like the fact that the actual base he has built only weighs 20kg.
Even a larger platform, board or bike, capable of carrying more weight and fuel for an hour instead of 10 minutes would be a light weight platform. Light enough that a parachute for safety would make it reasonable for someone with just an ultra-light license instead of a full pilot’s license. And the price is much more reasonable than what they are talking about for the PAL-V or the Terrafugia, etc.
This technology will be adapted to many uses. Frist responders and military.
A sit down version like a motorcycle for old geezers like me would be fun.
There's a fence there? How many feet?
Ant kid from the 60’s should remember the “Thompson Flyer”. It was a flying board powered by a lawn mower engine. They always showed it flying over water (for a very good reason I’m sure). I asked my dad to buy me one, he took one look at it and canceled my Popular Science subscription.
Actually he says in the interview that he has kerosene in his backpack.

Yep - there’s fuel in the backpack... I was responding to the comment about giving it the look of a motorcycle. That way the fuel could be in a tank. Fella gets it...
Your first “OOPS!” will be your last.
