I had several female high school teachers who were extremely intelligent and pious I guess. Some were considered “hot”/milfs but never heard any stories about hooking up except for one male teacher who married a student of his a year after she graduated. Went to a Catholic school though. Public school friends had no recollection of female teachers doing this, again, except for male teachers hooking up with female students (For higher grades). Statutes of limitations are way past their expiration date and still no stories. 'Hot for Teacher' was basically a pipe dream (Van Halen's 1984 came out when I was in high school).

Such stories used to be dealt with quietly at the local level. It is also certain that female teachers seducing male students was much more rare before the first oral contraceptives hit the market in 1960. The stakes were much higher before then.

I live in a different state, but if it’s illegal (age of consent in TX is 17 so not 100% clear its illegal), they should change the law. Waste of $40k/yr of taxpayer resources for prison for 2 consensual people having sex.

Seriously, this was a High School teacher - High School student relationship. Does society have a say in keeping order and harmony? Texas law says they do. Apparently their morals are not yours.

Don't have much time...my full explanation would take a long time for me,a two finger typist,to post.

In short...assuming 1) that the kid is 17...2) that he has no serious mental/psych/developmental disabilities (Downs Syndrome or autism,for example)...3) the (female) teacher in question used no threats or coercion...that is,she simply said to him "here I am"....I don't see how he could be "damaged" in any serious way.In *any* other scenario...including it having being a male teacher or a 17 year old girl...I can see the potential for *serious* harm and my attitude would be far different.

But even under this *particular* scenario I don't think it was wise for the kid to have been involved but,as I said,I can't see any serious psychological harm coming to him.

If this boy had been my son I would have been disappointed in him and would have wanted to have a *long* talk with him.But that's about it.

Lets see; first parents should actually be in a position to trust the teacher, unethical behavior, boundaries being destroyed, emotional and mental impact that you feel entitled to ignore, illegal in Texas, there is no double-standards under the law, broken contract (If divorce happens), potential STDs on both sides, authority figure in a position to provide alcohol to student etc...

Teachers are constantly warned/instructed of the law and not to engage in a sexual relationship with students. What does this say about the attitude of the teacher concerning the law? A student should not be a playground for a teacher who has arrested development.
