Aurora Animal Control claims longtime family dog is wolf hybrid...

...and won't return him to owners.

The family said Aurora Animal Control took their dog and won't give him back, claiming the dog is a wolf-hybrid.

The Abbato family has had Capone for nearly 10 years. They rescued him from the Adams County Animal Shelter where he was classified as a German shepherd mix.

The family's veterinarian also says the same thing. But Aurora Animal Control thinks Capone is a wolf-hybrid.

So a 10-year family pet that's never had a discipline problem is going to be put down by Aurora Animal Control, i.e., the Government, despite the insistence of the family and their vet that he's not a wolf hybrid? Just goes to show that the government knows best...

I thought liberals loved wolves...?

So, the next time you say or think, "What's the government going to do about (fill in the blank)?", be careful, you might just get your wish and you probably won't like the answer.

From the picture, that’s a German Sheppard mix. The mix could be part wolf, I guess, though I’ve only rarely seen a black wolf pelt. Honestly, I hope the lawyer has first filed to suppress the DNA test - the breed was already identified by an expert (the shelter where they got the animal), it is time for animal control to release the family pet and stop harassing a family.

And I’m sure that if they talk to the shelter where they got their pet, at some point in the past someone from the shelter was called as an expert in court, and if this court wishes to remove that expert status, they’re likely putting all previous cases into question where they were an expert.

Based on their logic, I would claim that the person who made this idiotic decision is a moron/leftist hybrid (sorry for the redundancy) and needs to be institutionalized immediately.

To me the DNA test is conclusive, even above a visual breed inspection by an “expert.” However, my understanding is that the DNA test conducted O/A March 1 and the results have thus far not been received. I’d wait until they are, myself.

Not a wolf.

Expert is a FA.

(I don’t use profanity much online but in this case it is deserved.)

You don’t make any sense at all. You tell me something about “Expert is a FA” and then just rant on off.

Only someone who has already made up his mind would completely discount DNA evidence that hasn’t even been received yet for the word of someone that examined it. DNA won’t lie and it will tell the story. You aren’t even willing to wait for that.

Curious what metrics would you use for the DNA test if you think it is so “conclusive”? The “Old Breeds” (there are six or seven as I recall), e.g. Akita, Huskey, Chow Chow already match > 99.9% to wolf DNA across the entire genome— this is because they evolved directly from wolf ancestors and have not been subsequently cross-bred for novel traits. Younger breeds (All other breeds) are not nearly so close to wolves, but still generally greater than 90% match for at least one wolf genome as I recall. So it is possible that a genuine “wolf-hybrid” of a more recent breed (e.g. Rottie and wolf) would match less to a particular wolf genotype (which one?) than a pure bred Chow or Huskey. Hence, I would not accept without additional explanation that a DNA test was conclusive.

My point is that the person who wanted to swear at me, apparently, didn’t even seem to want to see what the DNA test reported back. A lower scoring DNA test along with an expert’s assessment may be the trick that turns the tide. But this alarmist crap is just that. Nobody wants to even wait until all the facts are in it seems.

I’ve had 3 of my mixed breed dogs DNA tested out of curiosity. The results were questionable at best.

"If the test shows he is a wolf-hybrid, Capone could be shipped off to a wolf sanctuary..."

And how well do they suppose this domesticated dog will do, there?

ManHunter: "I thought liberals loved wolves...?"

What liberals love most is controlling others and pushing other people around. They only care for "the people" as some abstract notion. Individual people are a whole other story. They must be controlled. Destroying someone's pet dog allows them show the peons who is really the boss.

This is what happens when a state gets flooded with liberal Easterners and Californians.
