he Nazis claimed the double lightning flashes of the SS were 'ancient runes' that extolled the supremacy of the German race. But a new TV documentary has debunked the myth, revealing that Heinrich Himmler paid £1 to an out-of-work illustrator to create them. Walter Heck designed the SS symbol in 1929 and is believed to have copied it from the signs on electricity pylons in the country at the time.

Oh, horsecrap!
Hmmm, maybe Sarah was onto something. She's a jeanyus after all.
Beer hall fake news!
Nazis made up a lot of crap.
That fact that a local artist was paid 2.5 Reichmarks to make up the SS sympbol based on them (Ger and Eif) is not new news, but has been known for years.

“Nazis made up a lot of crap.”
WRONG!! How can you say that?
Didn’t you know that the notsies were socialists, and that socialists never lie? Want proof? Ask obama or Hitlery.
Ping
I like that...
The media were certainly “not-sees” during obama
Since my father was French, as a kid every time I saw “Monte Carlo SS” on a car, I kept thinking of Provencals in black uniforms.
They sure did. But some people believe in the not-made-up idea that the Nazi party was infested with pedophiles. Seems plausible, especially when considering that the Nazi Youth movement was comprised mostly of young boys.
I always assumed they were (highly) stylized “S-es” meant to suggest lightning bolts.
Yes, such a brilliant mind.
So can KISS use their logo in Germany now?
They are a constant source of inspiration for the democrat party.
When Ernst Rohm moved to Bolivia in the 1920s and served as an advisor to the Bolivian army he bragged about "buggering" every cadet in that army.
Just so. While stationed in Germany during the 1960's and serving as my battalion's interpreter, imagine my surprise to learn on going through newspaper back issues from the 1930's that nazi was the Communists' term for Hitler's National Socialist German Worker's Party, NSDAP by its German initials. I then learned that the NSDAP party leaders and members referred to themselves as NaSo's in those days, National Socialists. Note the large red background of their flag, meant to help draw recruits from Germany's *red* Socialist splinter groups in their early street-fighting days.
So go ahead, call them *not-sees* all you want, and help the Communists spread their propaganda.

It still is. Indeed, at some spots on the East German [DDR] border, you could see it from our side, hangiing from the razor wire stoppeldratt electrifified border fence:Hochspannungsleitung! Lebensgefahr! Approximately, High Voltage! Danger to life!
The signs did not face the Eastern where border crossers would be coming from. They were meant for workers and guards working on the mine fields between the fences.
