Monday afternoon for Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Northern Cayuga, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Southern Oneida, Tompkins and Wayne counties.
A storm system is forecast to move eastward out of the Ohio Valley this weekend and rapidly strengthen off of the Northeast US coast Sunday into Monday.
Initially, some rain/freezing rain is possible in central New York Sunday, but as the storm strengthens, colder air will be drawn southward into our area. This will change the rain to snow.
If everything works out close to what were thinking, Monday mornings commute will be slow and treacherous.

NY ping.
This storm looks to be coming from out west as opposed to a nor’easter.
Nevertheless, as it pulls off the coast to the east of us, lake effect is also very likely to follow on Tues as it always does when a low is positioned off the coast.
Good night to lay in supplies if you need anything. The night is still young.
When I lived there you would still go get around with 10-14 inches of snow. And there was no radar maps or 24 hour weather reports to give warning. Glad I moved.
Snow is one thing.
Ice is another.
And the wet snow is BRUTAL to shovel.
This is really going to screw up the Westminster Dog Show.
Thanks for the info. I live in Oneida County...Rome, NY. We’ve had snow every day this week. More to come I see.
It’s upstate NY.
You better like snow...
I grew up there as you know. Our school district didn’t even think about closing unless it was 8” or greater.
My wife is from Norwich. Her father had a cabin on Chenango lake.
Westminster Dog Show is in New York city Madison Square Garden Monday and Tuesday. May be tough weather in NY city Sunday but would think dogs and handlers would be already in New York area- hopefully. Love watching the show every year.
They named this one Winter Storm Orton. Unbelievable.
Could you please ask her for me if she's familiar with the little hamlet of Beaver Meadow? I owned an old farm house there a few decades ago. Me and my then wife were like Oliver and Lisa Douglas from Green Acres. Both of us are from New York City. I loved it, she, like "Lisa", very much missed the city. There was a general store a few miles down the road that looked just like Sam Drucker's store from the show. We even had a "Mr Haney" type character who occasionally came around trying to sell us old junk!
Did you move to a place that had 24 hr. weather reports and radar?
“This is really going to screw up the Westminster Dog Show.”
Well, NOW I’m concerned! ;)
New England is going to get hit harder than us.
They are saying a nor’easter and blizzard conditions, which is difficult to achieve.
It’s pretty bad if it reaches that level.
That wasn't you, was it, who came around trying to sell us junk from your truck?
I just shoveled my roof off this morning from Thursday’s storm. Now we are going to get hit again tomorrow but the worst of it will be in the Boston, MA to Portland, ME area as the storm will really blow up around the 40/70 benchmark and move into the Gulf of Maine.
Love German Shorthairs!
