I bought a 1986 GT in cash with a really good commission check from selling pay telephones. Remember those things? That was a fast car!

And to think you can always park within walking distance of the adjacent body-panel!

A hair faster than the ugly, underpowered miserable Mustang II.

that, my fellow freepers, is exactly what the overzealous EPA and CAFE standards did to cars in the late 70s and early 80s. Probably the worst years for car performance. Don’t look at what the Corvettes of those years were doing, because it wasn’t pretty.

Sounds a little above average for an early 80s turbo four. Sluggish acceleration though; turbo lag must have been high.
Dodge Daytona Turbo Z from the same period had about 142 horses and 0-60 in 8½ seconds.

Those lovely 230-hp 350 V8s were designed to somehow make the Buick Regal Grand National seem impressive.

Except the Pacer will work as a greenhouse when it’s on blocks in the front yard.

I’ll put it this way - my 2.0 liter turbocharged Ford Escape SUV is faster to 100 MPH than the 1977 Corvette.
