A lot of Americans have hard feelings after last November's presidential election.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters think the election has negatively affected their personal relationship with a friend or family member. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
That's a jump from the 26% who said just days before the election that the presidential race itself had already hurt their relationship with a friend or family member.
Contrary to the media and most pollsters who felt Democrat Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in for the presidency, Republican Donald Trump was the surprise winner. Fifty-four percent (54%) of voters who Strongly Disapprove of the job President Trump is doing say the election has hurt a personal relationship. Just 35% of those who Strongly Approve of Trump's job performance agree. (snip)
Women and younger voters are more likely than men and those 40 and over to say a personal relationship has suffered because of the election. But older voters agree with women that there is less political tolerance in America today.
Majorities across all political parties think Americans are less tolerant of others' political views, but Republicans (69%) believe so less strongly than Democrats (77%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (87%). Forty-seven percent (47%) of Democrats say the election has hurt a personal relationship, compared to 42% of Republicans and 30% of unaffiliateds.

I think that number is much higher.
I’m glad they’re hurt. We were hurt too for 8 years so F em.
Yeah cause the freakin liberal ass relatives started it first ..damn sore losers! They gloated for eight years over OVOMIT, and wHEN their precious Hiltery lost it was like all hell broke loose! They don’t need me I don’t need them. ...PERIOD!!!
“40% Say Election Has Hurt a Close Relationship”
Liberals get their feelings hurt very easily.
That 40% is probably mostly made up of liberals who can’t get over Trump becoming president.
Those who disapprove of Trump say that the election has hurt a personal relationship. Could be many reasons involved. Are they more likely to think that politics is the be all and end all of their lives, for example??? Do they shove political views down others throats???
Whiny liberals can’t deal with reality and take it out on normal folks.
If anyone stops being your friend because you supported Trump, you have to ask your, what kind of “friend” was he/she?
I used to enjoy Facebook. Loved pictures of friends and their families, photos of pets, funny stories achievements shared. I gave it up because of the constant anti Trump diatribes. Funny thing is, you could tell who supported Trump because they were the adults who just checked out
It's the LOSERS who are the intolerant, vile, nasty, irrational ones!
A majority of Americans voted to move past 0bama and his failed ideology.
It’s not our fault the truth hurts these snowflakes.

I think it is much higher as well. I know several friendships severed over Trump Unacceptance & Resistance Disorder.
Winning!
I don’t associate with liberals. Makes life very pleasant, especially now that we’ve escaped SoCal for a Red State.
“Winning!”
:)
This is unavoidable when you play the game of identity politics. Everything becomes so personal.
Damn straight.
Normal people are tired of their whiny holier than thou hypocritical crap.
Not me...I would never allow a democrat or progressive into my life at any point for any reason. The election hasn’t hurt any of my relationships.
I'm glad they are out of my life and don't miss any of them.
