well that sucks
It is water. Whiskey comes from the Gaelic “Uisghe Beatha” which means “water of life”. So the guy was right....kinda.

He is guilty of not being a huge producer..?
He is guilty of supplying a good for which there is no demand..?
His quality is bad..?
It’s a good thread, but I can’t understand busting people who ferment, brew, distill small amounts of booze illicitly.
Should have used an E85 fuel engine type of car, just put it in the gas tank.
Reminds me of my subterfuge long ago. In my Catholic nursing school dormitory, patrolled occasionally by the sisters, I kept a little vodka in a Heinz white vinegar bottle in my food supply.
” ..cant understand busting people who ferment, brew, distill small amounts of booze illicitly.”
Neither can I.
The Revenuers protect government coffers.
Is that illegal?
It’s just “Enhanced” water.
Have you ever tasted ‘moonshine’??? If not, DON’T!!!
Having sampled some poteen out of holy water bottles I can appreciate your story. That was of course a long time ago.
The federal government would rather kill or blind you than not get their taxes. Blending methanol and pyridine into ethanol to ‘denature’ it has been going on since Prohibition even though the Feds know it is deadly. In fact, that’s the point.
The only real societal interest is if he were to brew a deadly or harmful batch and distribute it to others. But this is true of home made foods too. Nobody policies dinner parties to make sure that the host is serving “safe” food.
Yes I know the government wants to protect its liquor taxes but that is not a real social interest. The irony that if he switched to marijuana he could grow and use and sell as much as he wants and in some states the government would help him hide the proceeds (since banks will not accept drug money under federal laws).
Drop some frozen peaches or raspberries or black cherries in it for a couple of weeks.
Takes the bite right out of it.
