It’s a good thread, but I can’t understand busting people who ferment, brew, distill small amounts of booze illicitly.

The federal government would rather kill or blind you than not get their taxes. Blending methanol and pyridine into ethanol to ‘denature’ it has been going on since Prohibition even though the Feds know it is deadly. In fact, that’s the point.

A whiskey tax almost started a civil war in 1794.

Quite a fascinating story.

Now referred to as the Whiskey Rebellion.

This is where Alexander Hamilton went off the deep end.

They had to call up 13,000 militia to put down the rebellion. All because of a stupid whiskey tax imposed by Alexander Hamilton.
