“This is a chance in a lifetime “

No, no it is not. It is just another gig to established performers. It won’t make his career or hurt it not to go.

Maybe to someone else, but not to an established performer.

Did Brooks play Obummer events?

Yes, he played at one of Obummer's inaugural events.

Sounds like it could be the [band] name of an 'edgy' musical act. Could be a real train wreck though. danger dr. smith.

Why should there be any kind of musical performance at in inauguration, anyway?

How about having a sedate, quiet, official ceremony -- take required oaths and a few photos -- and go home.

This is not the coronation of a king, but an executive who's official power is derived only from the Constitution, and We, The People.

It sure seems interesting. There’s a big enough lefty presence in the “country music” audience that some performers are getting cold feet.

A lot of modern country music is just pop music with a different beat structure and no synthesizers. It's why someone like Taylor Swift could so effortlessly switch between genres. It's been good for the genre economically, sales are booming. But it brings in a lot of lefties.

I know this because I live in the Northeast, I know many urban fans of country music and I know they are lefties.

I would have said no, too, if I had his concert schedule

Would you also have jumped to the forefront to say you WOULD do it, then back out?

He’s a low life. Sang for Obama. Basically his excuse now is he has another concert that night. Moronic.

Sounds like a quintessentially politically correct thing. Barack was the Magic you know who. Trouble was, magic is evil.

Looks on the surface like he got co-opted by the Big Ears that never listen. Still, how about comparing apples to apples — what did his concert bookings look like at that time too?

Some personalities, having gotten burned by politics, try to keep it at arms length.

A lot of people were, who thought that this token person would heal the oceans and do all manner of good things.

He didn’t. He just ground a generic leftism.

I wonder if a wisely enough targeted set of country music songs could wake up some of these lefties. I don’t think I’d want to be one to waste an audience.

“Would you also have jumped to the forefront to say you WOULD do it, then back out?”

You didn’t read the story, only comments condemning him and then you jumped on the bandwagon.

Fact is, the few days during the inaugural he was free when he made his comments, but the demand for tickets allowed him to sell three additional dates that then bumped into the 20th.

Live in reality and not some emotionally charged tirade. Liberals do that.

Pissing off your conservative base is not a good idea! Does he remember the Dixie Chicks? Great singers and musicians but not very savvy with the politics of the people that buy their records.

(Brooks is the greatest show I’ve ever been to...and yes it was in the ‘90s)

Will you ever go again, or shell out any cash for his stuff?
