Man Takes Police on Wild Chase Through Farm Field

The Milton Police Department, along with help from Barboursville Police, WV State Police, and the WV DNR has arrested a man after a wild police chase.

According to a release, Milton Police asked to speak to Justin Brafford at a Marathon gas station.

Instead of speaking with officers, Brafford sped off westbound on U.S. Route 60 in his pickup truck.

"A pursuit then ensued for Brafford, as drove from police over multiple roads. In addition, he ran a DNR roadblock and ended up at a farm on Barker Ridge Road, where he crashed through a double cattle gate, drove through a field and through a electric fence, before bailing and fleeing on foot."

I heard he also drove up a conveniently placed ramp and jumped a wide creek.

I was once driving through the Palouse Hills in SE Washington. Curvy, hilly.

I was going pretty fast (~65) in a 50 MPH zone. I really wanted to get to the Grande Ronde river to fish that night.

I came up toward the crest of a hill with a curve in it, and there’s the cop coming the other way with his radar cam on. Had me dead-to-rights. I looked in the rear-view, and saw his brake lights. Yup. He’s gonna git me!

Well, I did a quick bit of figuring. How long is it going to take him to slow down from 50 MPH? How long will it take for him to turn around? To accelerate to 65? To accelerate BEYOND the 65 I’m going? To close the distance at that higher rate of speed?

Well.

I hit the gas. I blew into the town of Starbuck (yes, there is a town named that), and quickly turned up a road that led to a bluff. I could see the road I had been travelling, but only the rear end of cars going the way I had been going.

I opened up the cooler and started making myself a sandwich. An alibi, just in case.

A minute or two later the cop blew by with siren wailing, while I watched the back end of his cruiser disappear into the distance.

I ate my sandwich, sipped a coke, took my time getting going, and eventually headed off at EXACTLY THE POSTED SPEED.

Not proud of it but I did something similar once on the highway. Cop coming from other way. I had a mile to an exit, he had to slow down, cut over the median, wait for traffic. I gunned it, took the exit and went down a subdivision, parked, and got out and took a short walk. Cop went blowing down main road a couple of minutes later.
