I had no idea this even existed until today. I'm not a pro-Russian cheerleader; but this softened my perspective a bit. I chalk it up to the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Didn’t know that either.
Russia is not our enemy.

I remember reading about this, but didn’t realize it had been pretty much hidden since it was delivered.

I knew about it vaguely from something I read maybe here on FR or elsewhere on the internet but other than that nothing. The out of the way location doesn’t help of course but maybe this article will begin to make it better known.

On the trail of New York's forgotten Russian Teardrop monument to the 9/11 victims There is no "New York" Russian Teardrop monument,

The memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2006 in a ceremony attended by former President Bill Clinton. Also in attendance were Michael Chertoff, the Bush Adminstration Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and family members of World Trade Center victims. Recording artist Leann Rimes sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace at the dedication ceremony.
So George Bush sent Skeletor to the ceremony, and the MSM pretty much ignored the whole thing.

I guess that Russians have not yet heard of “modern art” (aka kitchy crap that passes for monuments these days).
Breathtaking.

I remember reading about it and seeing it many years back. Very beautiful and meaningful. It should have center stage at the memorial, not be parked in a backwater.

About 50 million people visit New York every year and more than eight million live there but no one seems to have heard of The Teardrop...which is NOT odd because it is in Bayonne, NJ, and no one visits Bayonne.

I happened to see this memorial - by chance - as our Cruise ship was leaving Port Bayonne. This memorial is located in such an obscure location it's no wonder few have heard, let alone seen it.
Truly, this extraordinary and meaningful 'Teardrop' memorial puts the Ground Zero and Shanksville memorials (both of which are unabashed tributes to Islam) to shame.
