racy Claeys is out as the head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, just one week after the teams unlikely bowl win over Washington State that came in the wake of an ongoing sexual assault scandal and player boycott of the universitys response to it.
Claeys job security became the subject of intense speculation as the team descended into turmoil following the schools announcement just two weeks before the Holiday Bowl that 10 players would be suspended for the game, some of whom were involved in an early-season sexual assault investigation. Gophers players held a press conference the next day to announce a boycott of all football activities in response, and Claeys tweeted out his support of the players.

Well, I am glad he has been fired. Took a stand against his employer. He does not work for the juvenile FB players.
It’s all Red on Red as far as I can tell. Let them eat their own.
Personally I found the response of those players very encouraging.
Clearly they had heard of the Duke Lacrosse Case.
They wanted to see to it that the same thing would not happen to their teammates.
If the officers cannot control the mercenaries, The Prince at the earliest possible opportunity must replace the officers.
Missouri coach did the same damn thing. He wasn’t fired.
Unlike Duke this gang rape actually happened. Nothing encouraging about the players covering up for their rapist bros, IMO.
These players gang banged a drunk girl and filmed it. No comparison to Duke. At all.
Clever observation!

Yep. Situation is closer to Penn State than Duke. Nobody will want to be associated with Rape “U” if the adults don’t clean up this mess.
Sounds a lot like Baylor.
The Minnesota football players involved are maybe the most disgusting pack of feral wolves I’ve ever read about.
I read the University’s internal report regarding the gang rape of this woman, it is absolutely sickening. What started out as a consensual act with a drunken young, stupid woman became an evil gang rape, and these pigs who participated in it—some who recorded it waiting their turns—should be delivered to the worst prison in the country and never allowed freedom.
No decent person amongst them, the 10 who were suspended and 5-10 more who couldn’t be identified. Filthy horrid scum.
I am not in Minnesota so I don’t know the details of the case.
When the Duke case came out the press sure made it sound like they were all guilty as hell.
This is the price you pay when the media and the Democrats start playing politics with serious issues.
IIRC, consent was the only issue in dispute. Do I take it you’re okay with the rest of the degeneracy displayed that evening?
(1) What players was Coach Claeys supporting in his statement? I assume the ones that voted to boycott in support of their teammates, not the ones involved in the incident. I can easily see a coach praising his players for taking action when they felt that their teammates were being railroaded. That this question even has to be asked suggests that the statement was poorly written but that doesn't constitute grounds for dismissal.
(2) When was the information contained in the EEOC report known to Coach Claeys? In a "he said she said" situation, I could see a coach (and teammates) supporting the players until some solid facts emerge.
If Coach Claeys knew of the contents of the EEOC report before he issued the statement, then he has little grounds to complain. If he wasn't aware, then the action seems way too much like a cover-your-butt action by the university and which permanently damages the reputation of this coach.
Having worked in academe most of my career, I've come to the conclusion that there are no more unethical organizations than universities. Their operating assumption is that anything that protects the reputation of the university is ethical and they'll throw anyone under the bus to protect that reputation.
