2016: It Was A Very Good Year, Despite What The Pundits Say
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 12/30/2016 | Staff

ar in Review: We keep reading in the mainstream press how terrible 2016 was. We beg to differ. This year was a good one for many reasons. And next year will almost certainly be better.

Given the headlines, you'd think the country had suffered another Great Depression, or worse. A small sampling:

"Is 2016 the Worst Year in History?"

"Everything That Was Terrible About 2016"

"A Brief Timeline of Very Bad Years, From 2016 to 65,000,000 B.C."

"The Best of 2016: Looking for Silver Linings in a Terrible Year"

"The Worst Year Ever, Until Next Year"

These dour assessments are based almost entirely on the fact that the media's chosen candidate lost to a blunt-spoken reality show billionaire who promised to undo most of President Obama's legacy.

In fact, up until Nov. 8, these same news outlets were chastising anyone who dared to say that all was not well in the country.

A good year for the stock market, the Chicago Cubs and Donald Trump. But not so much if you’re one of the many, many celebs who bought the farm this year.

With 95M or so workers on welfare and maybe 110M welfare total and 5% unemployment there are some serious deficits between fact and government “facts”

No, those headlines more closely represent the terrible year that actual common working class people have had.

Your staff and clientele have had a great year - stock market way up.

But the common folk have seen wage losses, health insurance premium increases, and many have had their hours cut.

Which is exactly why we have our new President.

And thru the campaign you were not exactly friendly to President Trump, I remember commenting negatively to you many times for a simple reason: You’re an elitist. This election was about those of us who you consider to be at the bottom for once.

A very good year for our rotting, pitiful nation on November 8, 2016!

A special prison will have to be built to house all the Obamas and Clintons and the subversives they surrounded their sorry asses with.

Appoint the right man to the SCOTUS and put sodomy back on the books as a crime against humanity that carries a hefty prison sentence.

All drug dealers get a speedy trial and a speedier execution.

I think you are thinking of a different paper/website (one of the few polls that had Trump winning) and not sure you read the article. The writer’s point was that since the election, nearly every metric including consumer confidence has soared while the MSM has acted like the world is ending.

It was a bad year for liberals. That’s what’s going on here. Some Hollywood idiots have gone in TV to say it was a blank year, using profanity to describe the election of Trump.

What I til to understand about liberals, Hollywood idiots, etc is how one single election upsets the applecart of their entire lives. To listen to them, we are now entering the dark ages again, and their lives will now be miserable.

In reality, their lives will go on much as before. In spite of what they say, Trump is not Hitler, Trump will not destroy this country, or destroy the environment, or ban liberal values such as abortion rights or homosexual marriage.

The over the top rhetoric of the liberal really makes you wonder about their mental state sometimes .

The Cubs won the World Series and Trump won the election, it ends on a high note.

It started with 3 ineligibles and 13 Cheap Labor Express stooges against one patriot for the Republican nomination.
The GOP had every intention of denying the citizens the ability to stop the illegal alien inundation once again by nominating a Designated Loser.

Yeb! failed miserably and the Bush family outed themselves as the faithless frauds that they are.
Their plan to turn the USA into North Mexico has turned to dust.

“It Was A Very Good Year”
-by Ervin Drake:

When I was seventeen, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
We’d hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen

When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for city girls
Who lived up the stairs
With all that perfumed hair
And it came undone
When I was twenty-one

When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year
It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls
Of independent means
We’d ride in limousines
Their chauffeurs would drive
When I was thirty-five

But now the days are short, I’m in the autumn of my years
And I think of my life as vintage wine
From fine old kegs
From the brim to the dregs
It poured sweet and clear
It was a very good year

That’s a fair point, but that’s not why pundits are proclaiming 2016 a terrible year.
