Is Anyone Else Spending Christmas Eve Alone? (annual vanity)
Skooz's Den | 12/24/2016 | Skooz

Posted on 12/24/2016 3:03:53 PM PST by Skooz

Hey everyone. In what has become a Christmas Eve tradition, of sorts, I would like to wish all of those Freepers who, like myself, have for whatever reason found themselves alone this Christmas Eve.

I hope this thread can, as in previous years, serve as a gathering place for the solo folks who may otherwise have little or no contact with others on this celebrated evening.

You are not alone, really.

God bless us, God bless us everyone.

If you believe in God, you are never alone.

SO true. I also have my guardian angel.

When my girlfriend and I lived in Mexico for two years--she in Acapulco and me in Mexico City, I used to drive down in my VW bug to Acapulco in five and a half hours. Most folks did it in eight hours. Needless to say my little red bug FLEW down there. What a great car for all those turns!

My boyfriend, at the time, said that I didn't have merely ONE guardian angel I had an entire LEGION of them watching over me during my daring-do drive down the winding, winding, winding, winding, winding, winding, winding, winding road to Acapulco from D.F.

Ah me, we sure had a GREAT time down there. My blonde hair was halfway down my back. :o) Long legs too.
Now I am old with short hair. My legs are still long and my hair is still blonde, thanks to a bit of help with the latter.

I’m in California and my family is all in Michigan, so I’m on my own. I think when I retire, I’ll move back.

Waiting for my divorce to finalize here. Both boys are leaving shortly to be with their mother. Have an invite to go spend the evening with my new lady friend and her family. Probably going to go do that.

Still, not going to be the same. Both boys are grown but still say "it sucks Dad" that this is going on. Horrible time of year to be going through a divorce.

Your point about enjoying Free Republic is spot on. On election night, I was out of town on business; turned the tv on at 7 pm and the “experts” were blathering about the coming landslide based on the exit polls for Hillary. So I turned off the tv, and went to FR, joined the other commenters worldwide, reviewed a lot of the real time data on the Secretary of State pages for the battleground states, contributed a fair amount of my own analysis which found Trump winning OH, NC, FL, PA, MI, and Wisconsin, and learned the real story of what was happening hours before the media had to admit it. A joyous Christmas, Chanukah and a healthy and wonderful New Year 2017 to all!

Family gathering is tonight. Tomorrow I’ll be home alone, waiting on burglars with my new play
pretties.

Yes, the wife and I are the only ones home, we had Christmas with our daughter a few days ago to fit her schedule.

I would like to add that spending a holiday alone is not all that rare. Several years ago I worked at a park on holiday duty. What I noticed is the amount of traffic touring the park on Christmas and Thanksgiving where there would be just one or two people in the car. Typically they would be older people.

I’m doing laundry, changing out my curtains in the bedroom with Christmas music and as usual I spend too much time in front of a computer ... can’t seem to pass by it without stopping to find out what is going on.
(making a 15 minute task take an hour ;^))

I will be alone tomorrow by choice. I could travel to Texas or Nevada for the warmest welcomes, or to friends around here but I choose to stay home.
I have a wonderful fireplace, great food, my T.V. and computer.

I will go to Christmas Eve Mass at one Church today and Christmas Day Mass at my parish. It's ALL about Jesus!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, our good and dearest Lord Jesus.

My favorite Christmas movie is A CHRISTMAS CAROL with George C. Scott. (1984)

Yes.

Going through things, so I am adapting. Watching a ‘Dr. Who’ marathon as a diversion.

See post #2.

But if that doesn’t help, remember that there are plenty of us here on FR that are in the same boat. So, you are not alone. We’re here with you 24/7. Feel free to reach out.

Merry Christmas and the Lord’s blessings to you, FRiend.

Yep, and Christmas. Wife works as a police dispatcher.
But the 5 dogs will keep me company.

What are your pooches' names? I love doggies!

Merry Christmas to your entire brood...wife included.

Never saw that one... Hmmm...

I really love the George C Scott version from 1980s and I love the Jim Carey version a few years back.

I will try to find the one you speak of on the net.

Cheers!
