Today is Armistice Day, when the guns fell silent on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. We know it as Veterans Day in America, or, across the Commonwealth, Remembrance Day. I have some thoughts on the subject, and on the most famous Canadian poem of the Great War, here.
Via my compatriot Dr Roy, here is that most famous Canadian war poem, by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, as recited by a far more famous Canadian poet, Leonard Cohen:

the ululating ninnies of Generation Snowflake
They think Trump will reestabis slavery, take away women’s rights, and kill gays... like muslims do.
DAMIT I CANNOT POST WITHOUT TYPOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
reESTABLISH
LOL I feel your pain. My tablet hates me.
Generation Snowflake is literally ... protesting free elections.
Real snowflakes are beautiful and unique. The “snowflakes” of this generation are neither!!!!
Real snowflakes melt easily. This is the only way in which the “snowflakes” of this generation are like real snowflakes! Not so good!!!!
It is better for college students if there give up on their “safe spaces”, and engage in real learning—and potentially in service to our Nation—under the Trump Administration. Donald Trump is planing some exciting and important initiatives, which surely can engage the interest and participation of the youth—and of those no longer young as well!!!!
If they get all their “news” from the New York Times and similar worthless publications, they are totally uninformed, and have “skulls full of mush”.
Go online and find some REAL information, perhaps even on FR!!
Naw they don’t live in the real world.
Had it too easy in life.
Probably never had to work or do anything.
Life is about falling and picking yourself up and becoming better so you don’t fall as hard the next time.
Better they get their panties in a bunch now. Most still young enough to make something of themselves if they want.
Slow up a bit, breathe, and proofread. Even my browser’s spellcheck lets errors sneak through, and it also can’t differentiate between to, two and too. When I flummox it, it asks if I would like to add this word to the dictionary. Me: GRRRR...why isn’t this in there ALREADY?
The opening stanza is so sad. I have been to Europe and seen the graves of the WWI and WWII dead, so sad.
Now to the point:
Mark quotes Glenn Lowry, Director of the Museum of Modern Art who wrote:
I know many of you, like me, were dismayed by the results of the election last night. I will spend a long time trying to understand what happened and what it means for our future. But I take comfort in a note that I received from Marie-Josée Kravis, our president, first thing this morning who reminded me not to forget what we stand for, and to strive to be a beacon for the values we care about most. As I read her note, I thought about how fortunate we are to have trustees like her. I realized that our mission going forward suddenly had become clear: to be a model of an open, tolerant, and generous institution in everything we do. If we commit ourselves to making all of our decisions based on the degree to which they promote and encourage diverse political, social, cultural, and artistic positions, then we can be that beacon that Marie-Josée suggested.
This is the director of the museum of Modern Art - the curator of what presumes to be a great collection of art. Instead of curating his art, he feels a need to see the museum through a political correctness lens.
And this is the problem with MOMA. Poltical correctness is not the lens through which to judge great art. There are other standards. Great art critics, great curators can see better and more quickly what is great art than the rest of us. That is why they are trusted with the collection and the funds to add to the collection.
Of course the second problem is the shear hypocrisy. What these elites have shown is an utter intolerance for the views and values of the deplorables, all of whom have worked harder and been more productive, and some of whom are far better educated than the echo-chamber elites in this self-licking ice-cream cone of elitism.
And they always got their way by throwing tantrums. But this time it ain’t gonna happen. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Best.
Election.
Evah !!!
I love my son. He attends a major state University and while the snowflakes were roaming the campus protesting the election, he had his head in a book studying for an exam and then taking an exam.
I’m so taking that meme directly over to my Facebook page as a response to those posting safety pins as their emblem of being a “safe person” who is devoid of prejudice, hate, and misogyny.
Be my guest...lol
The snowflakes need to put on their big boy pants and start dealing with reality. They are not the center of the universe. Other people have rights too. There are things bigger than they are. There are universal truths and they are likely opposite of what they have been lead to believe. I doubt many of these snowflake will ever comprehend that.
