Important Note – Clear Your Cookies and Browser Cache Frequently…
The Conservative Tree House ^ | November 3, 2016 | by Sundance

Posted on 11/03/2016 9:41:44 AM PDT by Swordmaker

A rather long and complex issue has surfaced that CTH has specific knowledge of.

It’s a bigger issue than appears on the surface. However, to avoid a lengthy distraction -which will consume unnecessary energy- the short version is:

Until the election is over, if you travel the internet into news sites, political sites, and content containing political discussion therein, clear your browser and cache frequently throughout the day.

SHORT SUMMARY:
We have become aware there is a specific, intentional and ongoing “malvertising” effort. That is, hidden and targeted malware embedded within political advertising (by Team Clinton) that is intended to disrupt targeted users based on their web browsing history.

If you have seen a Clinton ad anywhere you are probably a ‘carrier‘. It doesn’t take any action on your part to gain the malware virus other than to be on a site where the malvertising is active. Once you carry the malware it travels with you in an effort to disrupt your navigation on targeted web sites/web pages.

CTH is one of the targeted sites, I’m sure there are many more, including popular social media platforms. It would not surprise me to discover the majority of Pro-Trump sites are the primary targets. (More on that at another date/time).

If you are having navigation issues you have probably been exposed. Word Press, the platform we use, estimates that 20% of CTH readers are carriers (it’s probably much more). However, the good news is (hopefully) you can rid yourself of the issue by deleting your cache and/or cookies frequently.

If you are having site navigation issues, try clearing your browser history, cookies and especially the cache.

Remember, there are trillions of dollars at stake. There is nothing the opposition will not do to retain power. Truth and sunlight is a risk.

I am not having any problem such as this, and I think it probably would be only a problem for Windows users. Still some of us Mac users may be using a Windows browser. I am posting this from a head's up from a fellow Freeper and it may be valid. If you are starting to see such browsing problems, delete your cookies and caches and it may help.

I recommend CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/products). I’ve been running it for years. It’s available for Windows and Macs. I use the free version - there are no ads and it doesn’t nag you.

The Conservative Tree House reports that DNC and Hillary ads that may pop up on your computers as you browse may have imbedded malvertising malware hidden within them that will block the recipient from going to Trump, conservative, or Right wing websites after receiving the malverted ad. The suggested fix is to frequently clear your browser's cache and cookies. — PING!

Thanks to Freeper jacquej for the head's up, and pinging dayglored, Shadow Ace, and ThunderSleeps for their ping lists to spread the alert.

I recommend CCleaner

It's a good one. I use an ad blocker, and I can't recall seeing a Hillary ad. . . LOL!

I have just started using the Opera desktop browser because it has a free VPN and lots of other privacy features. I am not a tech expert but Opera seems a lot better than the other major browsers.

Question from a Luddite: apparently I have CCleaner loaded on my desktop. I have a ton of sites bookmarked as favorites including FR. If I run the cleaner will I lose all the bookmarked sites and have to reload them again?

I use Ghostery with Safari, or Brave. No adds with either of them. Nice.

Aside from providing security VPNs will be the death of Google. (Opera also makes a stand alone version free vpn as
a mobile app that protects all traffic!)

Kind of hard to sell targeted advertisements
when the target is mixed with thousands of other traffic!

Your bookmarks will be safe but you may have to enter password info again when you visit some sites.

BTW - every once in a while you should back up your bookmarks by exporting them to a file on your PC.

Almost daily; I run, cleanup, ccleaner, smart defrag, and malwarebytes, in that order.

Keeps my antique laptop running well enough that I don’t throw it in the trash. It has a nice large display, only reason I keep it.

I noticed several unusual redirects when I had my browser parked on a particular page, and walked away for a few minutes.

Came back, and wondered why the page had loaded another destination.

I'm a professional, so I noted the occurrences.

Thanks, Swordmaker, for pinging our fellow pc users to the problem.

While I haven’t noticed any problems with my macs operation, I got the impression from reading the posts on CTH that there is a possibility that Macs weren’t immune from spreading the malware, so I decided to clean my Mac anyway.

If I understood what they were talking about, it spreads via the website you browse, or something, and makes them act up. Sword maker can give a much better explanation of how it works than I can.

So many of my good friends (in real life, and here on FR) use PCs, and we love them all, so anything we can do to help stop this nonsense really matters. It is a bit of a pain to have to clean daily, but it is worth it if we keep our friends safe!
