Latest statistics have shown that in 2016 more than half a million Saudi men are reported to have more than one spouse at a time.
A recent annual report on polygamy, a common practice in Saudi Arabia, has revealed that around 73000 men between the age of 25 to 49 engaged in polygamous relationships.
Men from the age group of 50 to 54 years came in the second place.
The report, which Alarabiya.net has obtained a copy of, also showed that more than 16,000 cases among men between the ages of 60-64 were married to at least three women at a time.
Two, three or four mothers-in-law unless you marry sisters.
The remaining 34.5 million are in a monogamous relationship with their goat or camel, whichever appears more attractive.
Mother in laws are bullies only in the pussified western cultures. Saudis don’t tolerate no pushy garbage bags.
Ping!
So they are allowed to come here, 3-4 sows in tow and 7+ piglets each for us to support on welfare.
Then why does the bossy, meddling mother-in-law narrative go back hundreds if not thousands of years in all cultures? It isn’t a recent development.
I wonder what this is as a percentage.
Yet another advantage of the goats— no mothers in law
If I could I’d have a whole Haram, what’s wrong with you guys?
Not that high of a percentage. Saudi Arabia has a population of about 30 million.
To give an example of what I'm saying....they show camel races and falcon competitions on their TV.The falcon stuff is pretty silly and the camel races are absolutely hysterical!
If it wasn't for the oil they'd be living like the savages they actually are.
Thanks.
An interesting statistical survey would show the distribution of marriage partners in various polygamous societies:
how many men have multiple wives
how many have one wife
how many are single
how many women are in plural marriages
how many in monogamous marriages
how many are single
A few years ago I visited the UAE for a couple of days on my way to Kenya.I went on a dune bashing safari for an evening and met up with three Saudi women who were there for a few days (Dubai is where rich Saudis go to let their hair down). They were about half my age, very friendly and carefree and all three were absolutely gorgeous (they were all wearing Western clothes). If it wasn't for the fact that I could have been executed I might have asked Noor to my room for a chat.
Yah,yah...I know...she would have laughed but a fella can dream, can't he?
One must differentiate.
In most cultures throughout history, it was the husband's mother who was the "mother-in-law from Hell," constantly finding fault with her daughter-in-law.
Only in modern Western culture do we see the wife's mother brow-beating, berating, and generally making life miserable for the husband.
Regards,
Mothers in law not much of a problem in patrilocal societies, if you are a man.
But they can make a young wife’s life a living hell.
Yeah, but at least twice as many Saudi woman practice polygamy!
Regards,
Might it not have been worth being executed over? he he
Most cultures were clearly patriarchal, so they didnt have to worry about bossy mothers of their wives. The WIVES might have had to endure bossy mothers of their husbands, however. I think the narratives were of bossy mothers of the husbands, not the wives.
Females were GIVEN away and done. Only recently has had that changed. Giving of the bride in weddings are meaningless symbolism now.
I know in countries like the UAE there are a lot more males, because they are not big fans of female children. I’m not sure if it’s as bad in Saudi Arabia.
