Museum under fire for 'sexist' brain quiz
KSAT ^

The Science Museum in London has come under fire for an exhibit that apparently tells you whether your brain is male or female.

The interactive 'Who Am I' exhibit features a series of questions. Your answers are displayed on a 'sex-o-meter' where an arrow either lands on blue (to represent a male brain) or pink (a female brain). More Talkers Headlines

According to the test, men are better at "seeing things in three dimensions" and "being able to imagine how things rotate." Women fare better "in tests that involve: distinguishing between subtle hints and details" and "having a good visual memory."

...

Alex Tyrrell, head of exhibitions and programs at the Science Museum attributed the controversy to time, saying the exhibit was "refreshed" six years ago but some of the research used around the display was over a decade old.

Here’s the new Brain Quiz:

Question: Is there any area where men have a cognitive advantage over women?

Answer: No. And if you think so, you are a mentally defective sexist.

Gee, a difference between the genders, who knew? By the way, is there a test for the 200+ differentiations claimed by the LGBT? crowd????

Here’s my test.

Women, for the most part, can’t and don’t use the car mirrors when backing up. They twist their head and body in an effort to look out the back window.

Men, on the other hand, are much more comfortable using the mirrors.

You should be doing both, ideally. Mirrors have blind spots.

I am comfortable doing neither.

Men are better at fixing things.

Women are better at sensing things.

- - - - -GPS has made it possible for most women to find

their way home!! DAMMIT!! Who will not admit that the

average woman is geographically challenged!! And why not??

For thousand of years men got up in the morning, grabbed

their loin cloths and spears and went in all directions

insearch of dinner. Women set around the fire, gossiped,

took care of babies ,chewed skins for leather, and cooked

dinner if hubby brot it home!! They never left home-—so

had NO reason to know how to find their way there!!!!!

Try parallel parking a panel van with no rear/side windows or a 20’ truck in the city by looking over your shoulder.

It’s called spacial awareness and men are substantially better at this than women.

++outrage and disbelief that such antiquated notions of gender stereotypes++

Except it’s true and six years of ‘updating’ won’t change decades of research. Men’s brains are about 10% larger and their hypothalamus* and hippocampus are larger; the parietal cortex in women’s brains is thicker and women use brain regions differently. Women have more neuronal connections between the halves of the brain, men have more within the halves.

* the third interstitial nucleus of the anterior hypothalamus. The function of this tiny structure is unknown, but research from four different laboratories has repeatedly found that it is almost twice as large in males than in females. It has also been linked to sexual orientation and gender identity: one study showed that it is more than twice as large in heterosexual males than in homosexual males, where it more closely resembles that of women; another found that it is smaller in male-to-female transsexuals, and larger in female-to-male transsexuals. These studies have been criticized for their small sample sizes, and the findings have not been confirmed.

I love it when I have the chance to “Quiz” my female passengers or drivers with a simple question “Which way is north?”

Or, “What is the general direction of your Mother’s house?”

They have know clue. And, they don’t think it is important.

GPS has made this so much worse.

I use GPS/navigation from time to time but it is mostly for traffic and “Speed Cam” alerts. The “Waze app” is really good for this. But, I always maintain North at the top.

Many people that use GPS/NAV with it set to their “Perspective” lose all sense of direction and over time can’t tell you if a place is north or south of another place even though they have traversed those places dozens and dozens of times.

Men are better at fixing things.

Women are better at noticing what needs to be fixed.
(Also, men *can* notice but pretend they didn't.)

We are to celebrate diversity by pretending it doesn't exist.

There are no male brains and no female brains. It’s the same brain, adapted to the sex it finds itself in. Males have evolved to be generally better in some things than women and vice versa.

More males are better an engineering, for example, than women. It’s a fact of life. Nothing sexist about it.

Liberals claim to love science if it’s made up of wishes and fairy dust like anthropomorphic global warming. When it’s hard science that flies in the face of their latest feel-good nonsense like brains being gender fluid or whatever claptrap they want to believe, they get out their torches and pitchforks.
