We completely respect Brandon Marshall's personal decision and right to take an action to support something in which he strongly believes. America is anchored in the right of individuals to express their beliefs. While we acknowledge Brandon's right, we also believe that whatever issues we face, we also occasionally must stand together to show our allegiance to our common bond as a nation. In our view, the national anthem is one of those moments. For this reason, while we wish Brandon the best this season, we are politely terminating our agreement with him.
Great response, great example of proper corporate citizenship.
Hope more companies stand up like this.
Will be much harder for this kind of action to spread because it’s not liberal. MSM won’t report it.
Bravo!
They are actually based in Louisiana.
Ah, gotcha. Just assumed by their sponsorship of Seahawks’ stadium. Thank you for the clarification!
If I didn't already have a Century Link wifi (it replaced a different brand that was much slower), then I would be calling to order service today.
CenturyLink expanded out to that region when they acquired Qwest.
“They are actually based in Louisiana.”
You are right. They bought Qwest a few years back and took over Qwest’s operations in Seattle including renaming the stadium.
OK, that makes sense. I went to a Steelers/Hawks game there (as a Steelers fan) when it was Qwest Stadium.
Good!
Long term Broncos fan who is NOT happy with BM’s decision.
In this country, he is free to act out and say what he wants...but he is not free of the consequences.
Racis!
Totally agree. The most inane defense of Marshall, Kap and others has been - it’s their First Amendment right and they should be able to do it. Yes, that’s right - it protects them from getting prosecuted by the government for their actions unlike in North Korea where you get firing squad by anti-aircraft cannon for sleeping/slouching in a meeting.
But it doesn’t protect you from your employers/sponsors from taking their own Constitutionally protected actions if they disagree. Not a hard concept, even for muddleheaded libs.
Their corporate headquarters is actually about 10 miles from my location. It located on Hwy 165 North, Monroe, Louisiana.
Their CEO, Glen Post III and I went to school together. He is a few years younger than I and he is an avid hunter and loves guns and the outdoors.
I have already sent him a message of Kudos for this descision.
Thanks for the info.
CenturyLink is the football stadium sponsor in Seattle.
It will be interesting to see what they do there should the Seahawks etc keep up their protests.
Every single company that has deals with “athletes” (yes I use that term very loosely), must start pushing policies like this.
The slap-back factor needs to step in and perhaps these buffoons will start to realize there’s a lot more at stake with their foolishness than just “standing up for their minority rights”.
Not sure what they’ll do in their next game, but to their credit, the Seahawks to a man stood with arms inter-linked as a solidarity gesture. That was good enough for me. I know they should have their hands to their hearts but not everyone followed this protocol before this whole imbroglio started.
Nice to hear this personal info. Makes me feel better that a business took corrective action on principle. And as a result, the deplorables will want to do business with this business—freedom in action.
