Carlos Parra used to love waking up to see his pet albino boxer, Nina. Now, seeing her skeletal body on the floor next to his bed has become a daily reminder of the economic crisis engulfing Venezuela.
His other dog’s thick fur barely hides her ribcage as Parra struggles to feed his pets after losing his job at a shoe store.
“It’s terrible to sit and eat, see them watching me with hunger, and not be able to do anything,” said the 30-year-old.
As Venezuela’s economic crunch worsens, food shortages and rising poverty are forcing once middle-class Venezuelans to do the unthinkable: let their pets starve or abandon them in the streets.
No figures are available, but activists and veterinarians say they are seeing a growing number of dogs and cats abandoned at parks, shelters, and private clinics. …

In a Marxist crisis, pet owners can feel lucky they haven’t eaten their dogs and cats.
It is good to have pets you can feed through a crisis.
Venezuela is now a concentration camp. An enclosed area patrolled by armed thugs, where political ‘undesireables’ are systematically starved, and where if you listen closely you can hear the SS laughing it up in the officer’s mess.

I have gone without food many times, myself, so my dogs could eat.
When my ex left in 93, I had $400 a month to live on.
First, I bought them a month’s worth of food.
Then I paid my insane electric bill enough to keep them from turning it off and my car insurance.
Then I put gas in the car.
Whatever was left was my grocery budget.
I don’t ever want to see powdered skim milk, 4 for a dollar Jiffy corn bread mix or Mac and cheese, again.
I cannot imagine these pet owners’ angst and I could never sit and eat in front of my hungry dogs.
I would find something to kill and feed them, if nothing else.
It’s always the innocents who suffer most.
I can see Hitlery attempting something on the order of what’s going on in Venezuela. She’s a nut job that just might try to be an Adolph Hitler. She’s insane with power, criminal activity, and total lack of conscience. Seriously, she meets all of the qualifications to be in Adolph Hitler’s inner circle and she has the backing of a major political party and sitting POTUS.
Thanks to the 2nd Ammendment, she will not succeed, but in her trying thousands, maybe millions, will likely die.
It just makes me so happy we live in the middle of no where in a remote flyover state. And I truly feel sorry for those cluttered in heavily populated big cities.

Same here, I fail to understand how they can watch them starve and not take some action to find food. I am blessed enough to have plenty of food even if the world collapses; my ducks lay plenty of eggs every day and there is a multitude of small game on my property. Plan to fence in several more acres and get some goats as well for milk, cream and butter, then I will be self-sufficient. So far from civilization I don't think I would ever have visitors.
