More than two-and-a-half billion people are at risk of developing the Zika virus, scientists have warned.

It comes as the World Health Organisation declared the outbreak of Zika remains an international health emergency and noted the virus is continuing to infect new countries.

Malaysia has also confirmed its first case of the virus after authorities in Singapore confirmed they have detected more than 150 people with the virus.

New analysis of travel, climate and mosquito patterns in parts of Asia and Africa found people in these regions were particularly at risk.

The UN health agency convened its expert committee this week to assess the latest status of the epidemic.

Today, Dr David Heymann, the committee's chair, said considerable gaps remain in understanding Zika and the complications it causes.

As such, WHO concluded the outbreak remains a global emergency.

It follows research which found Zika could cause temporary paralysis in sufferers.

Some of the most vulnerable countries include India, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria, Vietnam, Pakistan and Bangladesh, according to the research.

Experts caution that the most recent study could overestimate the number of people at risk because they don't know whether Zika had already landed in some of these countries in the past and allowed people to develop immunity.

More than two-thirds of people infected with Zika never get sick, and symptoms are mild for those who do, so surveillance systems may have missed cases.

WHO also noted that Brazil has not reported any confirmed cases of Zika following the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Studies are ongoing in the country to figure out why certain regions have seen an increase in babies being born with abnormally small heads.

To date, Zika has infected 72 countries and territories.

Worried about the Zika virus??

The basic solution to pretty nearly EVERYTHING in the world like that is still available, all you need is a mailing address in a free country:

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Imidacloprid-ddt-insecticide_60341731780.html?spm=a2700.7724838.0.0.UStg8D

DDT had no effect on birds or any other higher animals. There were people who fell into vats of the stuff who were still walking around decades later with no ill effects and one guy used to eat the stuff with a spoon on television to demonstrate its safety, again no ill effects. The kill rate on mosquitoes, lice, bed bugs, and all but two or three of the insects you'd ever want to kill was right at 100% and if there was any down side at all it was using it as an area pesticide for crops. Using it to protect human habitats and/or attack mosquito breeding grounds had no downside.

Malthusians didn't like it because it left too many humans alive and, likewise, big pharma didn't like it because any patents for it had long since expired when they discovered its effect on insects, i.e. there was no way to make obscene profits with it.

The new boogie man rubbish.

Folks just research “Selenium”.

You will find taking 200 to 400mcg a day will protect you from Zika.

The Zika virus was patterned in 1954 by the Rockefeller Foundation.

cherry :" Zika is not new....why is it such a big deal now?.."

It has been known since 1947 , with the only symptom being flu like symptoms, or rash in only 20% of those infected.
It now appears to becoming a world wide menace due to mosquito vector being more widely distributed , and sexual transmission.
To date, Zika has infected 72 countries and territories, and is spreading rapidly.

I agree. Very strange that there was only a few infections up until recently. I think people have been playing around in the labs.

The word is Bill Gates unleashed some mosquitoes in South America to supposedly stop malaria working with Monsanto’s.

Next thing you know Zika pops up.

This is coming from the same guy that is or the Obama Care death panels.

There are dozens of viruses that infect the majority of the population and produce symptoms in only a small minority of patients. Virtually everyone gets a wart at some point in their life and that is caused by a virus, but only a tiny percentage get a massive breakout.

< They left because of the crime demographic. They were suicidal in their blind optimism. Now... They’re realists.

Trying to scare the people so they'll demand a vaccine that the UN will be more than happy to provide. With added ingredients provided by Soro's Solutions, Inc I'm sure....

This news elicits a big yawn from me as I live in northern Michigan and Mosquitos are almost non existent up here even in the summer. I haven't had a mosquito bite in probably twenty years, so I have the same attitude as Alfred E. Newman-" What, me Worry?"

Without including any conspiracy theories, viruses and bacteria that are normally relatively harmless can become extremely deadly and virulent under the right conditions as they continually exchange dna with other viruses or bacteria or organism cells. The Bubonic plague is an example of this. The bacteria responsible for killing a third of Europe had been in Europe for thousands of years with little or no harm.

Possibly, but it also happens naturally or in human markets that aren’t careful about separating livestock.
