I quit watching the Olympics after I saw the graft, greed and politicking with the 1996 Atlanta Games here. Juan Carlos Crook or whoever he was, Atlanta’s mayor making big bucks and ruling like a slave master, thieves, schemers and plotters everywhere.
It isn’t an athletic competition; it is a competition to see who can graft the most.
I honestly don’t care what happens in the Olympics after that.
The only Olympic sport I care about is “Curling” ;)
I saw a movie about that once. A good one IIRC.....
I agree it is not the Olympics of Jim McKay, but I do enjoy watching gymnastics.

His take on the Olympic games is about like mine. Most of the sports only seem to show up every 4 years at the Olympics.
It was the same with winter Olympics when I first learned what Curling is about 15 years ago. I watched numerous matches. Then, the mens’ final with the US on the verge of making Curling history as we were down to the last 3 rocks — NBC cuts away to another sporting event. Who won? If NBC ever did show the final rock, it was in the wee hours of the morning.
I did not see any vault injury: did I miss it? I did see the German guy twist his knee viciously on the floor exercise, is that what you mean? His very gifted team members were bereft. They needed his score on pommel. Pommel requires not bending the knee, both otherwise the knee is not affected until you stick your landing. So the injured guy limped up and performed an excellent vault for his team. Very heroic.
It was really horrid injury. Worse I have seen. Insult to injury they dropped the poor guy while trying to get him into the ambulance.
