I call bs on “fireworks” claim. It was a bomb of some type and strength.

Although you made the mistake of capitalizing it, “mosk” is correct.
Someone could have placed some nitrogen triiodide there which doesn’t take much to set it off.

We had some little green mines in RVN, about 2 1/2” dia 1 1/2” high.
They would vaporize a foot.
I assume those mini mines are a “dime a dozen” in the middle east. So ISIS can ship them stateside to their operatives.
Ramadan ends July 5th this year.
I am not saying it is that, but ISIS claimed to take us on in NYC, LA and other places over our Independence Day holiday.
We all expect something big and spectacular, but something like this could get a lot of people hopping, literally.

Scatter a bunch of cigarette pack sized anti-personnel mines around fireworks shows, and panic will kill more than the mines. Confusion will be unbelievable with fireworks going off overhead.
I seem to remember the Canadians had an anti-personnel
mine that was like a big golf tee, you stuck it in the
ground then removed the safety ring. It would shatter
a foot or ankle.
That was a long time ago though.
Remember the Russkies had mines that looked like toys
in Afghanistan.
You are right. They were very small mines that were hard to detect. They would generally just take off part of the leg or foot. Nasty little buggers. Whole use in a non war zone could be a terrorists weapon. Hope they can find evidence of what it is.
Those Russian mines are terrible, they were all over Bosnia too. They’d throw them around playgrounds, and kids would think they were toys.
I bought my own fireworks (down here in Alabama, most types ore legal) to shoot off tomorrow evening.
I’ll be careful, and only drink one beer, promise!

No plans on fireworks except to maybe watch some. Besides it’s too hot and I’m on call for the week of the 4th.
I had to go fix a stupid printer and Citrix problem on Saturday morning. Usually if there is a Saturday call, usually there is a Sunday one but not yet. 99% it’s over a printer.
Something I did with fireworks and military surplus a while back. Not even bad Godzilla movie caliber but it was all I had on hand.

Legend has it, the only metallic content was equal to the ball in a ball point pen.
