In NYC we called ‘em “dirt bombs.” They ended all
“Got ya!”
“Did not!” arguments

I was hiding in a bush with just my rifle barrel sticking out at night time. The shooter, a good friend of mine from the neighborhood was laying down behind a tree and shot me from across the street. Just a lucky shot it was not really an intentional face shot because he couldn't see my face. I didn't hold any grudge against him at all. I was really lucky not to lose my sight.

Certainly capable of firing 700 bb’s per minute with multiple clips.

real firearms placed out of reach for many people
Unfortunately my interest in PCP's began after I retired and am now on a fixed and limited income. Had I still been working, I could have afforded to purchase a couple of stellar rifles and their required accessories that I have had my eye on......... Oh well....
As a side note, I do have a Beeman Kodiak (British made) which is an excellent break barrel and spot on when shooting. I also have a Chinese made Stoeger suppressed in .177 that is a piece of crap and can't hit a consistent pattern of 4 inches at 35 feet...........I tried two different scopes and got the same lousy result.

Lol...my sons big thing on moving to Arizona was keeping up with the midget militia at school that played airsoft all the time. He came out here with some cheap plastic but full auto rifles and ran into kids with fully metal saws and more powerful arms. They would throw parties and play in the nearby desert areas all night long, come back to the home they were near and sit at the campfire, eat pizza and sleep in sleeping bags. They’d wake up and play more, this would go on all weekend. The kids out here are great and probably one of the last remenant pockets of what I remember growing up was like. He loves this place. Now he’s a grown man and I think he will decide to stay out here.

Gersh...synonymous with quivering, bed-wetting, sniveling, breakdown-prone, drama queen pussy. "Gersh" sounds like a synonym for "queef". If you know what I mean...
Now on the other hand, "quivering...pussy" sounds downright delectable, as long as you're talking about a female of the species...

Can you get those in .50 caliber?
Once upon a time you could.
As I recall, .45 (about) and up caliber air rifles were used in the French & Indian and the American Revolutionary Wars.
They had compressed air charged bottles (like canteens) attached to the stock. They were used as sniper rifles, quite effectively by some accounts.
(If anyone has more recent knowledge than that from my own misspent childhood, then please embellish.)

I’m 70. We used swim masks and I wore leather gloves. You take hits in the hands and arms a lot ... have an 80gm air rifle now. Holds discs of pellets. Mine is a .177 but they make .25 and .38 caliber, too. Must take care ... they can be deadly if they penetrate the skull or chest wall.

When he writes part 2 of his article, the author should consider exploring the elevated sense of trauma and anxiety connected to firing the new pink transgender model of the Daisy BB Gun.

He/it would not recognize it as satire and would probably agree. If he/it thought the noise and recoil of an AR-15 was too much, I wonder what he/it would think after shooting my 375 H&H Mag?

Yes, the PCP accessories run the cost of those guns up considerably. Even the hand pumps run $200+. I'm fortunate to have found a reasonably-priced SCBA tank with five years of life left in it, and I have access to a compressor to fill it. The Benjamin Discovery can be easily adapted to CO2, since it operates in a lower pressure range than the more serious PCPs. I bought mine from a friend who wanted to move up to a more powerful rifle.
Speaking of Beeman, I also picked up one of the Chinese-built QB78 clones of the Crosman 160, now marketed with the Beeman name on them. The Chinese are improving fast; it's an excellent pellet rifle for around $100.00. Real steel and wood, very little plastic and pot metal. Prices on them are increasing, too - last year the QB78 was around $70.
My fig tree is bearing heavily this year and the local rat population is bent on eating every last bit of the fruit. So you see, I have a reason for revisiting the suburban pest control methods of my youth. ;-)

Seriously, we should start using “gersh” as a synonym for “pajama-boy girly-man wuss.” Just like “clymer” became synonymous with “anus.”
