Political Ads parroting Trump

I seldom watch network or cable TV so I rarely see political commercials. I was over at a relatives house yesterday and they had the TV on.

I was shocked by the ads for Senator Rob Portman -R vs. Ted Strickland - D (in Ohio). The ads seemed to be each candidate trying to out-Trump the other one.

Portman's ad talked about the Chinese devaluing their currency, dumping steel on the U.S. and how Portman would fight them.

Strickland's ad talked about how he was against unfair trade deals that hurt the middle class and export jobs.

These candidates might criticize Trump by name and attempt to avoid any association but they know that his policies are popular and are trying to ride his coat tails.

Are you seeing a focus on these types of issues (trade deals/international financial relations/immigration/sovereignty/etc...)in your Senate/House/Governor races across the country?

I am especially interested to hear if other GOP-e establishment sellouts like Portman are trying to pull this stuff.

Political ads in Ohio decrying free trade, etc have been around since the steel industry collapsed in the early 1980s. This is nothing new.

Ironic - even those who “disagree vehemently” with Trump know that he is right and that his message resonates...

It’s the Cruz Model— attack the guy with real solutions and then steal them.

I thought the same thing when I saw the Portman ads on China. Also saw his opponent hitting him on being a friend to China.

Now Portman is going with heroin ads which Trump made a big deal about in New Hampshire.
