The lie in the government goes like this: Sunni and Shia hate each other and dont work together. That is wrong on so many practical levels. So said former FBI agent John Guandolo, and he was right: Shiite Iran funds Sunni Hamas and Islamic Jihad, as well as other Sunni jihad groups. As the old Arabic saying goes, My brother against my brother, but both of us against our cousin. Sunnis and Shiites do hate each other, but they hate Infidels more. There is no reason why Mateen couldnt have supported both Sunni and Shiite jihad groups. But the feds took this to mean he didnt know anything about Islam (about which they themselves know nothing, as a matter of policy). So now they dismiss people as potential threats if their knowledge of Islam is deemed insufficient? But jihad terrorism is supposed to have nothing to do with Islam!
Orlando Attack Is a Failure of Obamas Politically Correct Policy, Analysts Say, by Bill Gertz, Washington Free Beacon, June 14, 2016 5:00 am
The Florida terrorist attack last weekend revealed multiple failures of Obama administration counterterrorism policies that critics say are hamstrung by liberal political correctness.
Security analysts said the attack exposed failures of the administrations counterterrorism policies that were designed to separate Islam from the jihadist terrorism that continues to spread from the Middle East to Europe and now the United States

FBI top dog confused about Orlando jihadis motive because he supported both Sunni and Shia jihad groups
I guess they haven’t figured out Hammas is Sunnie and Shia Iran funds them and aides them.
Its like being for the SA, and the SS. They are All Nazi’s. This whole debate is idiotic. He is a Muslim. Period. They go Boom no matter what they believe.
There’s that ‘hate’ word again. It isn’t emotional or familial, it is fundamental belief system. sumi and sh1a have different beliefs as to who should be calif, the maaadi, how the ‘end times’ come about, and what it means to be a good moslm. It is still the same book, prophet, hadeth, and objective.....convert or die.

All of us - FBI included - want to make sense of these events with some kind of logic that fits together like a lego set. In my opinion, we are ignoring the main component - mental illness.
In many of these cases there appears to be a mental illness at play that makes these individuals especially vulnerable to Jihadist tendencies as an outlet for their illness. It provides the perfect vehicle for a deluded person to attain some misguided form of self-validation. They see their lives as being without meaning (they are generally losers with erratic behavior and history) and this action changes that in their twisted minds.
It does not fit each case, but I have read the same opinion from those who have the most experience with it - the Israeli’s. The preachers of hate find the most obedient receptacle of their hate in the weakest vessels.
The choice between beheading people and throwing them off buildings is so....difficult. Heads or tails?
Reminds me of the old saying, “Kill them all and let god sort them out”.
The FBI has been ordered by Obama to put on blinders and ignore the elephant in the room- both sunni and shia read from the same Koran. It says to kill sodomites, plain as day. No need to finesse or twist this into something more complicated than that.
And so this confusion stalls the further investigation. The motive was the murder itself. The motive is Hate. Hate against ALL THINGS non-Muslim, and non-sharia. Sunni, Shia, ISIS, ISIL, Al Qaida, the motive is Hate.
“All of us - FBI included - want to make sense of these events with some kind of logic that fits together like a lego set. In my opinion, we are ignoring the main component - mental illness.”
Could be called mental illness...but this presupposes that we possess a system of logic and reasoning and evaluation capable of categorizing or characterizing the topic matter. I view it slightly differently and with respect, there is a certain amount of arrogance in what you suggest. The arrogance is the insistence that our system of logic and and belief and thought (our “machine”) is superior in the sense that we think we can apply it to Islam, turn the crank, and get our “conclusion(s)” that we believe are correct.
The Islamists feed our system into their “machine”, turn the crank, and get out 371 variations of “murderous hatred and certain intent”.
The conundrum is that the result of our calculus is “a better understanding”. The result of their calculus is our heads, yours and mine, severed from our bodies, both lying in a pool of blood.
It is like developing a system for betting on a game and deriving a near perfect system that accurately predicts results on an uncannily accurate basis yet results in gradually losing your entire stake.
We will be right about them, right about them, right about them, but if we do not develop the system that produces their destruction, their results will beat ours.
Good post.
Good points - I am not defending them. Rather, I am suggesting that those who promote hate through the vehicle of Islam often prey on the most vulnerable to carry it out.
Does not change the calculations in the end, but it should factor into our “understanding.” The most dangerous thing to me is not the radicalized Islamist. It’s the one who radicalized him or her in the first place.
When you study the Intifada in Israel you will quickly note that the suicide bombers were most often the biggest losers and most vulnerable. Pretty sad. They even used the mentally retarded to carry out attacks.
It makes me like them even less......
It is amazing that they waste time trying to answer silly questions, like where did we fail this muslim? Why did we make him, due to our actions, want to go kaboom? How did we cause him to hate us so? What a waste.
