Everything I have seen seems to indicate Muslims have to be buried within 24 hours of death.
Ali's body is, if the news is correct, going to be paraded through the streets of Louisville.
So: is there an exception for famous Muslims? Or, was Ali not a devout Muslim? Or, was he Muslim in name only?
Actually, they all would easily fit in a square landfill a mile deep. It's certainly worth trying!

That’s no excuse for us not to at least try. When our bowels get irritable, we don’t throw in the towel and let them run wild. Muslims are no different.

Well, you sort of raised a question that would be a very interesting one to explore. How committed was Clay to being a moose-limb before he found it to be a very convenient fit for his 'conscientious objector' status? Clay purportedly joined nation of islam in about 1961/62 at the encouragement of Malcolm X. His refusal of the draft was in 1967 so it wasn't like this was a last minute thing beforehand.

As an investigator you don't know how many times I've run a background check on a black male and had multiple identities pop up. Invariably I find out what his birth name and date of birth was along with his Muslim aliases. Many of them alter their date of birth some when they use their Muslim alias. I find out what their real name is though just like every booking officer does when they take their prints. Taking a new Muslim name for just saying I convert to Islam? Sure they'll do it.
