A 12-year-old Queens boy who was critically injured when he lit himself on fire Tuesday night did it as part of a dangerous YouTube stunt called the fire challenge, police sources said.
The boy was at his Far Rockaway home on Watjean Court around 8:30 p.m. when he splashed himself with rubbing alcohol and set himself ablaze while standing in the bathtub, sources said.
He was supposed to extinguish himself with water in the shower but was unable to do so, according to sources.

I wonder how much he drank before trying this stunt?
Ohh....kay...
Darwin was asleep at the switch.
Well that’s one way to get your 15 minutes. Or maybe not even that. I tend to regard most youtubers as sort of pathetic, however.
Obama’s people Spring?
Darwin Award nominee?
Queens. Home to geniuses.

I’m sure there are some non-Chinese Queenies with IQ’s bigger than ther shoe size.

An actual genius, Richard Feynman, did this sort of trick when he was a kid using benzine.
And where was Feynman from?
You guessed it.
I had a friend who did a similar trick when he was 14 or so. He’d light his hair on fire.
Is the “fire challenge” a qualifying event for the Darwin Award?
Stupid can hurt ya.
I’ve occasionally taken a mouthful of lighter fluid and spit it out past a flame.
Had my father standing-by with a wet towel in case it didn’t go as planned.
It was a trick he’d first seen at Osan.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
too bad they can’t learn that hard work is rewarding.
Hail Youtube!
Stuff like this gives me hope. Hope that the Obamalamadingdongers will eventually quit being a threat to normal folks.
And to Gaia. I’m all about that crap.
I’ve done the cigarette lighter flame throwing trick using the gas in the mouth (not lungs) and blowing it out past the flame.
Not hard or particularly dangerous.
I’ll admit to doing some stupid things as a teen, but I never once considered setting myself on fire.
DARWIN AWARD WINNER !!!!!
He reminds me a little of an old girlfriend. We would in a lively discussion (argument)and she told me I always tried to see every side to the story. I replied that I did try that, because I could be looking at something from the wrong angle and could be wrong. I will never forget her response. EXACT WORDS “THAT”S BESIDE THE POINT”
In case you’re wondering, she was very cute, but as dumb as a box of rocks !!!
Maybe not, depending on which 40% was burned
