The case against Exxon and CEI will not stop with Exxon and CEI
National Review ^ | 17 Apr, 2016 | KEVIN D. WILLIAMSON

In the course of writing about the ongoing fraud in which a cabal of left-wing lawyers with connections to the administrations of Barack Obama and Andrew Cuomo has attempted to extort many billions of dollars from Chevron, I had a memorable conversation with an executive at the energy giant. “We are the least sympathetic defendant there is,” he said. “We’re an oil company. You can say almost anything about an oil company. There are no stories in which the oil company is the good guy.” ......

New York’s attorney general, Eric Schneiderman, is taking a similar approach. He isn’t sure what law Exxon has broken, but he promises to find one, making different accusations and arguments as the venue demands. Barack Obama’s so-called Justice Department is considering filing a case of its own. Despite the insistence of Democrats in positions of power, this is not a “fraud” investigation. There has been no credible case made — none whatsoever — that any fraud has been committed. We should, while it is permitted, be as plain as possible about what is happening here: This is an act of obvious, gross, and indefensible political suppression, with two ends: One is riling up young, white, middle-income progressives before the 2016 election (in which California’s Democratic attorney general, Kamala Harris, is a Senate candidate), voters who care a great deal about global warming and not very much about freedom of speech; the second is financial, in that Exxon, the second most valuable firm on Earth by market capitalization, has a great deal of money, and may be bullied into a settlement that will fund a great deal of Democratic activism for years to come.

The Marxist Obonzo and Clinton not only want to destroy the coal companies, they plan on shutting down the oil companies too. Welcome back to the Stone Age comrade Neanderthal.

What, they think no one will defend themselves?"

Probably cheaper to settle. Obama and his minions are community organizers and therefore masters of the shakedown.

The Cuomo brothers are living proof that idiocy is a hereditary trait. No only are the stupid, they are dumber than their father, which is really saying something.

It is truly a shame that our once great legal system has become an extortion scam.

If I was the CEO of Exxon Mobil, I would cease selling any products to the State of New York, New York City, or within the State of New York. Nothing owuld be sold to the US Government as well. All Credit Cards would become null instruments and no government card would be accepted. All facilities there would be shut down and would remain closed until the witch hunt is dropped.

Obama and Cuomo are like children who don't understand that the 'nothing good' mom and dad do for them includes keeping a roof, heat, lights, transport, etc. going. Shut it down.

Valve Closing Day gets closer all the time.

Do you know what all these “courts allow lawsuits” stories have in common?

Lawyers getting outrageous fees for burning down the house around us all.

Government for the lawyers, of the lawyers and by the lawyers and nothing else.

Seems to be a theme, use the power of government to persecute your enemies both real and perceived.

Those under the bus:
1. Christians
2. Western Land Rights Protesters
3. anti-cuban activists
4. religious rights activists
5. anti-government activists
6. conservatives...
