An annual gun show held at a school in western Wisconsin sparked protests on Saturday.
The Indianhead Rifle and Pistol Club held their day-long gun show at Spooner High School. The event is one of the group’s major fundraisers and drew in hundreds of people.
Some of those people showed up in protest to voice their concerns about holding a gun show at a school.
“Many people in our community do not believe this is a good idea. It’s not safe,” said Sherrie Wiegand, the protest organizer. “It’s hypocritical for vulnerable adolescent students who see that they can’t come even in the parking lot with an unloaded cased gun during hunting season, because it’s a gun-free zone.”
Huh???
“We’ve been doing this for 30 years. We’ve never had an accident. No one’s ever been hurt. We’ve never had a gun go off accidentally, and we’ve donated thousands of dollars to the high school,” said Kevin Brabec of Spooner, Wisconsin.
The club says the gun show also helps them support several other charitable causes.
They say the building they used to use closed down, and the school is the only building in the area that’s big enough for the event.
Protesters stressed that they’re not against gun shows; they just don’t want them held at a public school.

I remember when the army recruiters brought in some special forces guys with m16s, rpg launchers, an ak and other gear as part of of a recruiting pitch at our high school around 1987 or 1988. No parental complaints then. Us high schoolers were impressed.

I was just in Spooner yesterday it has at least 3 gun stores. I only went to one of them.
That idiot is old enough to have gone to school when they had gun ranges at school. My old high school had a range in the 60s for 22s.

You're attempting to use logic, reason, and facts to combat the irrational hysterics of a hate-filled, Comunist-inspired know-nothing such as Sherrie Wiegand. That's a losing proposition.
I'd suggest a more direct line of attack. How's this for starters:
"When people like Sherrie Wiegand work overtime to steal the freedoms of decent and law-abiding families and instead support the worst criminals - thieves, robbers, rapists, and worse - then all of society is victimized. It's time to stop Sherrie Wiegand from getting away with her evil plans. We will not give in to her terroristic threats, ever."

as a faculty member. Every year he would bring his Johnson rifle and some other items to school and talk about the war. Probably wouldn’t be allowed now.
I guess the days when I brought my sing,le shot 22 rifle to high school and kept it in my locker so as to plink in the woods while walking home was not good, eh?
Any wonder why we folks brought up in the country think little of the city boys.

This is exactly why gun shows *should* be held at schools. Banning guns in schools teaches children that guns are bad.
It is a very destructive and deceitful thing to teach children.

Sherrie Wiegand is attempting to foist her unhealthy fears and phobias on unsuspecting children. She undermines their health and our national security. We will never let her unhealthy and insecure emotions rule what our children learn.
It’s a building...there are no kids there, they are getting paid for the use of the building....how is that dangerous for anyone????
